Dear David,
Brynmawr is the only part of Blaenau Gwent (historically Breconshire)
that I can say my rellies settled, mainly from Herefordshire (Cheese,
Puddle, Lewis, Davies, Evans, etc.)
With the exception of Hermon in Nantyglo and Rehobeth (Which is
desolate) the streets chapels and hotels are still there.
Contact me off list as I have a few resources for Prewett/Lucas and
possible Jones's in Blaenau Gwent area, including Brynmawr (Breconshire
before 1974)
The Blaenau Gwent may be another list which would be more in keeping
with your families in these areas.
best regards
Barrie Jones, Gwent

Hello Everyone
In a few weeks' time I shall be taking my octogenarian parents-in-law on a
nostalgic trip 'back home', on the occasion of their diamond wedding
anniversary. They are excitedly looking forward to seeing their old homes and
haunts again - schools, chapels, streets, etc. - those spared the developers'
bulldozers. To help us make best use of our time, I wonder if anyone could let
me know if the following are still standing:
Alma Street, Brynmawr (old home of the Davies family)
Oak Street, Abertillery (old home of the Prewett/Lucas family)
Rehobeth Congregational Chapel, Brynmawr
Hermon Baptist Chapel, Nantyglo (Davies grave)
Blaina Gwent Baptist Chapel, Abertillery (Davies, Prewett marriage)
Bush Hotel, Abertillery (Wedding Reception)
Brynithel Cemetary, Six Bells (Lucas grave)
I have relevant 1:50k OS maps but would be grateful too of any guidance on
locating any of the above which are not shown on these maps or 'streetmap' or
'multimap'. We also hope to have time to explore the above towns and the
countryside around Llanelly (Bre) and Gilwern. Thank you in anticipation.
Regards
David Lloyd
