BBC Radio Wales have started another series of "Look up your Genes"
transmitted on Sundays at 12 noon for 30 minutes. Kat Whiteway and Charlotte
Evans look at ways to research your family history and check out the help
that is available to those researching Welsh Ancestry. On Sunday 4th Sept
the programme looks at Gwent Family History Society and focuses on a few
members and their research.
If you live outside the UK don't despair, the programme will be available on
the BBC website for one week after transmission. Just go to
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales/
and then click on look up your genes and you can listen to the programme
through the magic of the interweb.
I was one of the people interviewed - the only woman - so you can listen to
a genuine Newport accent (actually Malcolm and Don are also Newportonians)
ans see how we take the English language and mangle it in this little corner
of Wales.
Enjoy
