Tony,
Thanks for the 1881 census information and possible death of
Thomas John Meredith. This MEREDITH family is indeed proving challenging
as they move from one county to another! I can see (not only with
Thomas, but also his siblings) that I need to become more familiar with
the details of geography in that part of the country and civil areas so I
know when a place looks like a possibility.
It seems that the Thomas MEREDITH and Elizabeth you have shared
had no children. This makes finding out more about him even more
difficult. But each additional clue seems to indicate he is indeed the
one that was son of James MEREDITH and Elizabeth PITT.
I had not considered looking south nor looking for Elizabeth and
Elvira without Thomas. Appreciate your help from so far away. Needing
to depend primarily for online sources is sometimes frustrating. But a
reply like yours is most welcome. Thanks again.

Hi Ruth,
As I told you in my earlier contact, my GGmother worked for the
Merediths, here she is during 1881 census with the widowed Elizabeth
Meredith.
Elizabeth Meredith abt 1825 Gloucestershire, England Head
Aberystruth Monmouthshire
Elvira Watkins abt 1858 Brynmawr, Breconshire, Wales Servant
Aberystruth Monmouthshire
Very soon after the census was taken Elvira Watkins married and
then left Elizabeth's service.

Thanks to Tony of Australia for his replies to recent message
about Thomas John MEREDITH, christened/baptized in December 1828 in
Clodock, Herefordshire, England. The clues he provided may prove helpful
in continuing research on this family.
Just wish individuals (or the informants) would give consistent
details from one census to another! It appears to me that some of the
records below may refer to the same individual, but each time a different
place of birth is given! Because of this, do you have suggestions of
additional things to do to determine if any of these are indeed the
individual I am seeking? Plus, do you have details on any of these that
could eliminate them from consideration? (details of censuses can be
found on mailing list archives of the entire earlier message)
