It would be quite helpful if you could give the reference for this page
This will start with RG9 for 1861 census, RG10 for 1871 census, and then a
4-digit 'piece number' followed by folio and page numbers. The Folio number
is overprinted in heavy black ink on the top right of every alternate page,
and the page number appears next to a square bracket at upper left or upper
right.
Ebbw Vale was mainly in the parish of Bedwellty (sometimes spelled
Bedwelty)

Subject: [MON] Help needed reading 1861 census
Hello,
I am in the US and heed help. I am looking at a census for 1861 in
township of Bedwitty, town of Ebbw Vale, Hamlet of Monmouthshire, and can’t
read the Ecclesiastical Dist. ( I hope spellings are correct) It is for
John Bevan (first line) I am trying to make out what the Occupation is.
Loan ?.
My next question is the name of the next Surname. It is Mary but I can’t
make out if it is Harper or something else. This is line 134. John’s
wife Sara’s maiden name is Harper. Is Mary ‘s age 39. The ink is
blurred.
My last one is line 137 for James Bevan. John was born in in Breconshire.
It looks like James may have been also. (perhaps the father?) I can’t
make out the name beside Breconshire where he was born. He is 59.
I hope I have not been too confusing and thank you in advance for you
help. Mary Dess
