Deaths. Mr James C. HOOPER, Bradenham-place, Penarth, aged 78. Native of
Corsham Wiltshire he went to Penarth in 1878 and was engaged in the construction
of Barry Dock. Mr HOOPER'S wife died 4 years ago, he leaves one son and two
daughters. He was connected with the firm J.C. HOOPER and Son.
Mr. James HOLE, of Belle-Vue-terrace, Penarth, who celebrated his diamond
wedding in Jubilee Week has died at his home, aged 87. He was born at Moorlinch,
near Bridgewater, and went to Llantrithyd to work on a farm when he was 20.He
later moved to Cornerswell-road, Penarth, were he lived for 25 years. After 14
years at Splott, Cardiff, he returned to Penarth.

Mr W. WALSH, of Amesbury-road, Cardiff, who was for many years in the employ
of Cardiff Corporation Transport Dept, has died aged 85. Mr WALSH was in the
service in the horse-car period. He worked until he was 77, his last duty being
that of cash clerk at the Pier-head.
Mr Henry JENKINS, of Bryn-road, Swansea, was buried at Bethel, Sketty on

Mr Harry Gallichan HALSEY, of Traethlawn, Welshpool, was buried Monday at
Bassaleg Church Cemetery. Rev. A.G.A. PICTON, Vicar Bassaleg, officiated.

Cardiff, (sons), Mr. J.E.G. HALSEY and Mrs HALSEY, Chester, (son and
daughter-in-law), Mrs John NORMAN, Nantes, France,(daughter); and Mrs
MORRIS,(sister-in-law), and Mdme. Jean RUSSAOUEN, another daughter is in Madagascar.
Mr George DAYE Bedwlwyn-road, Ystradmynach, was buried at St. John's
Churchyard, Aberkenfig, on Monday. Rev. W. HILL, officiated. Principal mourners: Mr&

Robert MACKINTOSH, of Amos Hill, Penygraig and Miss Laura THOMAS of
Pleasant-road, Penygraig, were killed on Monday, when the motor-cycle on which they
were riding was in collision with a motor-car on the Talygarn-Cowbridge Road. The
car was driven by Mrs Henry LEWIS of Pentyrch, accompanied by her son Mr.
Wyndham LEWIS both escaped injury. Miss THOMAS left her place of employment the
Miners' Convalescent Home, Talygarn, shortly before 6 o.clock and rode pillion,
they had only gone a quarter of a mile when collision occurred, both appeared
to be killed outright.
Douglas WILLIAMS, aged 21, employed at Aber, Talybont skidded on a
motor-cycle and crashed into a wall and was seriously injured. WILLIAMS father is a
G.W.R. platelayer living at Talyllyn.
Police-sergeant John GILL, of Llanbradach retires on September 27th, after 30
years service in the Glamorgan Police. He joined in 1905 and served at
Canton,Cardiff, Briton Ferry, Pontypridd, Ton Pentre, Bedlinog, Caerphilly, and
Llanbradach. He is one of the founder-members of Caerphilly Lodge of the Loyal
Order of Moose and has passed through all offices of the Lodge. His Father and
four Uncles also served Glamorgan Police. Mrs GILL is the daughter of the late
P.C. HAMENS, of Pencoed and Kenfig Hill, sister of Inspector Arthur HAMENS of
Pontlottyn, and niece of Inspector James GRIFFITHS, Porth. Her mother was a
daughter of Sergeant G. GRIFFITHS, two of Mrs Gills cousins serve in City of Bath
Police.
Sergeant and Mrs GILL will live in Caerphilly.
