they did - the coroner's verdict is that the death occurred while the lady
was of unsound mind, but he obviously didn't know her. However, no friends or
family were called as witnesses to her general state of health at the time.
Only three people gave evidence, the nextdoor neighbour who heard a noise
outside and went to investigate, her husband who described her as an invalid,
and the other was the widow who married him after the lady's death, and she
was already living in the house.
If someone has opened a bedroom window at 2 o'clock in the morning and
apparently "jumped out", wouldn't that be a little bit suspicious? I
reckon she
was pushed......

thanks - as I said, the circumstances are quite peculiar which led me to
suspect that something was awry somewhere ... this is a small village and
there
are still a number of older residents who remember the lady's death in 1936
(it happened in my house which is why I am interested) and anyone who has
ever
mentioned it has, without exception, expressed the opinion that "there was
something going on"....I don't suppose I will ever know.
