Unsound mind is the usual diagnosis for a suicide. You don't usually jump
out a window like that if you aren't mentally unstable to some degree. Hence
the inquest to look into it. Obviously the "thing" going on was possibly the
affair - perhaps she found out and already being an invalid (not paralysed)
decided to end it all.

they did - the coroner's verdict is that the death occurred while the lady
was of unsound mind, but he obviously didn't know her. However, no friends
or family were called as witnesses to her general state of health at the
time.
Only three people gave evidence, the nextdoor neighbour who heard a noise
outside and went to investigate, her husband who described her as an
invalid, and the other was the widow who married him after the lady's
death, and she was already living in the house.
If someone has opened a bedroom window at 2 o'clock in the morning and
apparently "jumped out", wouldn't that be a little bit suspicious? I
reckon she was pushed......

The local paper will have reported the coroner's inquest - suggest you
start there.

Fidesnemo2003(a)aol.com thanks - as I said, the circumstances are quite
peculiar which led me to suspect that something was awry somewhere ... this
is a small village and there are still a number of older residents who
remember the lady's death in 1936
(it happened in my house which is why I am interested) and anyone who has
ever
mentioned it has, without exception, expressed the opinion that "there was
something going on"....I don't suppose I will ever know.
