there is a difference between USA
where 1930 census is used by Rootsweb as a cut off point for trees
and civil registration was later starting and is state run and gossip
about identy theft makes life harder for genealogists
and UK where all vital events are public
since 1 July 1837 and you may order the death crtificate of anyone you wish
BUT in any group silly threads about generalisations are a waste of time
if you are researching the families who lived in a house
you need to name names and quote evidence

Hello list
What a load of cobblers. It has nothing to do with
policy, that it is some arbitrary rule someone plucked
up out of thin air. If it is in the public domain then
of course its discussed. The particular thread has
more to do with taste, respect and common sense.
