Mrs Jane HAMMOND, of 34, Newport-road, Cardiff, was buried on Tuesday in Cefn
Coed Cemetery, Merthyr. Mrs HAMMOND was the widow of the late Mr Edwin
HAMMOND a former agent of the Cambrian Collieries, and later a colliery proprietor,
and formerly resided in Penrhiwfer, Rhondda. She was the mother of Mr T.E.
HAMMOND, consulting surgeon to the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, and of Mr E.W.
HAMMOND, of Messrs. Morgan, Bruce,and Nicholas, solicitors, Pontypridd, and Mr E.B.
HAMMOND. Rev. J. William HUGHES, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Cardiff and the
Rev. T.B. HARRIS, of Merthyr officiated. Principal mourners, Mr T.E. HAMMOND, Mr&
Mrs E.W. HAMMOND, and Mr&Mrs E.B. HAMMOND, (Sons and Daughter-in-laws), the
Misses Vio HAMMOND, and Verna HAMMOND, and Mrs EVANS, (Daughters), Mr Tegwyn
HARRIS, (Nephew), and Nurse DAVIES.
Farmers from all parts of Monmouthshire attended the funeral at Trellech
Grange Church on Monday of Mr George HEATH, Caerwent, former member of the
Monmouth County Council, and one of the most prominent farmers in the district. Canon
W.W. MATTHEWS, Caerwent, Canon W.H. WILLIAMS, Mathern, and the Rev. T.A.
DAVIES, (Vicar of Llanishen), officiated. Principal mourners Mrs HEATH,(Widow), Mr&
Mrs Herbert HEATH and Mr&Mrs Henry HEATH,(Sons and Daughters-in-law), Mr&Mrs
H. WHITAKER, and Mr&Mrs Melville WILLIAMS, Caldicot, (Sons-in-law and
Daughters), Messrs. David WILLIAMS, and John HEATH,(Grandsons), Messrs. Edwin HEATH
and Amos HEATH, (Brothers), Eddie HEATH, Owen BOULTON, Pontypool, and George
HEATH, Trevonny, (Nephews).
News has been received from Western Australia of the death of Mrs GRAYBROOK,
wife of Mr George GRAYBROOK, 2nd son of Mr&Mrs Henry GRAYBROOK, Cardiff. Mrs
GRAYBROOK was a native of Penarth, and before here marriage she was a nurse for
several years at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary and the Ely Homes.
James BENNETT, aged 67, of 44, Henry-street, Newport, collapsed in the street
near his home on Tuesday evening and died before any assistance could be
obtained.
Mr Richard MATHIAS, of Neath-road, Briton Ferry, proprietor of the Welsh
Produce Stores, was found dead at his home. he had been ill for some time. Mr
MATHIAS was a native of Southport, and had been in business at Briton Ferry for
about 12 years, he leaves a widow, a son, and a married daughter. Funeral
Thursday 3.p.m. Ynysmaerdy Cemetery.
