Mr James LEWIS, Pontmorlais, Merthyr, who served 40 years on the works staff
of Merthyr Gas Company, died on Monday aged 77. He retired 7 years ago. Mr
LEWIS, who was one of the oldest members of the Wesley Chapel, Merthyr, is
survived by his widow, one son and two daughters. Funeral Wednesday 2.30. Cefn
Cemetery.
Mr Thomas JONES,(Arfonfab), has died at his home in Poplar-road, Rhydfelin,
Pontypridd, aged 74 years. He was taken ill on holidays at Porthcawl. he had
won numerous bardic chairs and crowns for his compositions. Mr JONES was a
member of Ebenezer Church, Glyntaff, and leaves a widow two sons and two daughters.
Mr John R. ROBINSON,J.P., Newport, an official at Messrs. Lysaght's Works,
Newport, has died. Mr ROBINSON in recent years had taken no part in public life
other than to sit on the magistrates bench once a week. At one time he was a
member of the board of Guardians. He is survived by his wife. His only son was
killed in the war while serving with the Monmouthshire Territorials.
Mr Edgar STANDEN, of Pencisely-road, Cardiff, was buried on Monday in Cardiff
Cemetery. The Rev. W.S. PONTIN, Vicar of St. Lukes', Canton, officiated.

Neath Steel Sheet and Galvanising Works were fined £5. and costs for a breach
of Factory and Workshops Act, after Thomas PICTON,14, received serious
injuries to his right hand when he slipped and caught his hand in the rollers of a
roller levelling machine. There was no guard on the machine. ( There was a
guard for the machine but it had got broken and had been sent to be repaired).
BABY SHOW.- The Annual Pengam and Fleur-de-Lis baby show was held in the
Parish Hall, Pengam on Monday, and was opened by Dr. W.A. McKENDRICK, of
Blackwood, and Dr. E.L. PHILLIPS of Hengoed, was the judge.
