Desmond BIRD, 22, of Arran-street, Roath, Cardiff, employed by a Frederick-street firm as
a packer died at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary on Thursday following injuries received at
work. It is believed he was struck by a lift in the warehouse and received head injuries.
Mrs Jane WATKINS of Margaret-street, Gilfach, Bargoed is 94 today. A native of Nelson, she
has lived in Gilfach for 40 years. she is one of the founders of St. Margaret's Church
Gilfach and was for many years secretary of the Sunday School.
Mrs N. ANDERSON. of Brynteg, Ogmore Vale, has resigned the Office of District Commissioner
of Girl Guides for the Ogmore Valley, Mrs Dillwyn LLEWELLYN, of Park-avenue, Ogmore Vale,
has been appointed to the vacancy.
Mrs Charlotte FUDGE, of Wellington-street, Cardiff, widow of Mr Charles FUDGE, who was for
50 years employed on the Bute Estate, was buried on Thursday in Cardiff Cemetery. A
service was held at St. Cadoc's Church, the Rev C.G. OEPPEN, Curate of St.
Catherine's Canton, officiated. Principal mourners. Miss Beatrice FUDGE, Mr&Mrs
Frank YOUNG, (son-in-law and daughters). Messrs. William FUDGE, James FUDGE, Mr&Mrs
George FUDGE, Mr&Mrs Bert FUDGE, (sons and daughters-in-law); Mr E.J. ROWLES,
son-in-law. The Misses Grace ROWLES, Muriel YOUNG, Sylvia YOUNG, Phyllis FUDGE, Florence
FUDGE, Messrs. Clifford BOWLES, Mostyn YOUNG, Howard FUDGE, Mervyn FUDGE,
(grandchildren).
George DAVIES, aged 36, of 73, Court-road, Cardiff, was admitted to the City Lodge on
Thursday morning suffering from injuries to his throat. he died on Thursday night.
