Subject: [MON] ADAMS - Caldicot
Hi, everyone.
If the very kind transcribers of the Caldicot PRs are on the list, I would
be very grateful for a Parish Record check, please.
I have 2 transcription Baptisms in sequence:-
22 Jan 1818 Adams Hannah William Mary Caldicot Labourer
1 Feb 1818 Adams Hannah William Mary Caldicot Butcher
My ancestor Thomas Adams was the Butcher in Caldicot at the time, he had a
brother William. I suspect that the parents of the second Hannah were really
Thomas Adams and Elizabeth Gale (born out of wedlock because marriage did
not take place until 1821)
I would be extremely grateful if someone could look at actual PRs to see if
this is possibly a dozy vicar's error or just an unfortunate slip by
Pauline.
Incidentally I would place on record my admiration and thanks for all those
who do transcription work. A thankless task which would try my patience -
and typing ability - to breaking point.
And in passing, a site which I know is a bit off topic and which I came
accross via another listing,
http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/ giving access to
Medway actual PRs.
What a dream to see all PRs and GRO certificates available in this way.
Perhaps we should all start lobbying our county archivists. (I believe this
will sometime be available from GRO)
