Subject: [MON] newberys of Blaenarvon
Dear Listers,
I'm hoping someone may be able to help me here.
My husband's father was Emlyn Joseph Newbery born in Blaenarvon in 1915, son of Thomas
Newbery and Agnes Maud Williams(known as Maud). Seraches on b/m/d suggest they had quite a
few children but only Emyln, Clifford( I assume John C..Newbery 1924), and David(Dai) 1926
survived.
It is believed that this was a second marriage for Thomas. It is possible the first
marriage was to Bertha M. Payne(there is a marriage in 1901 and a death in 1903, with
possible births of Cyril John and William John(all at Bedwelty).
Thomas was believed to be a grocer and a baptist lay preacher.
Emlyn moved to London and then to Luton where he worked as a welder. His mother and 2
brothers also moved to Luton after Thomas' death.
I've not yet found his death. On a visit to Blaenarvon a few years ago we learn that
there were still Newberys in the village, but on holiday!
I don't know when or where Thomas Newbery and Agnes Maud Williams were born so
can't trace them on censuses.
Any help or suggestions would be welcomed.
Mary
