Hi Angela,
Just so you know that there is life on this list, I'll reply. I looked at
the Ancestry census for 1861, 71 & 81 and couldn't find a Jeremiah that met
your birth criteria. Do you have the marriage certificate? If not, go to
Free Birth, Marriage, Death
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ and get the record
info. Then you can order the marriage certificate. These certificates
often have the names of the parent(s), occupations and witness names.
Witnesses will often be family members and can help you branch out. Someone
on the list can tell you the easiest way to order.
I did find a couple of Jeremiahs with John as a father, but they were too
young according to your info. It may be that the age on the death
certificate is not correct. This is a common occurence where the people
providing the info were not correct.
Good luck,
Paul Berndt

Subject: [MON] New Researcher - Any of these names familiar?
Hello listers, I am researching the O'Brien family from Bedwellty and Ebbw
Vale, Monmouthshire.
Jeremiah O'Brien was born between 1855-1860 in South Wales according to
death certificate, parents John O'Brien and unknown mother.
And Married...
Ellen (Mary) Sullivan (O'Sullivan) in All Saints Catholic Church in
Bedwellty on 1st April 1882. She was born May 1861 in County Crk, Ireland
to James Sullivan (O'Sullivan) and Julia McCarthy.
After marrying and having a few children, they moved to the US - going
through Pennsylvania and Michigan before settling in Great Falls, Montana
for two generations. I have lots of info on the US side, but little info on
the Ireland/Wales side.
Addtl info: Jeremiah was a smelterman, and his family prior and after were
also smelters/welders.
Appreciate any help/insights people can offer. Thanks!!
