Hi Lilian,
I was with Find my past for a number of years. Recently the site got so complicated to use
and to get any info from that I cancelled my membership. I do hear that they have now
taken steps to improve this situation and I may give it another try. But you have not
been alone in your difficulties.

Hello ,Not sure whether this request would be classed as off topic,
As I am building my Family Tree I have decided to apply to the Ministry of
Defence for the records of my father who died during World War 2 - I have
some forms which I was given some time ago and this gives an Administration
charge of ?30.00, I wonder if anyone can tell me whether this charge remains
the same or whether there has been an increase - either way I will request
these as I am also hoping that because he was a regular soldier in the North
Staffordshire Regiment during the late 1920s to early 1930s, this would give
that information, He also served in India during those years. The little
information that I have it appears that he was on 'Reserve' and that he was
immediately taken back into the Army on the outbreak in 1939.
Re - Find my Past - On this I look at the Cheshire, Staffordshire and
Monmouthshire Lists and quite a lot of what I look for doesn't seem to be
there, my query is - are these areas still being sorted or am I doing
something wrong - can't think what this would be though as I think that I
follow the instructions properly.
Anyway, I would be most grateful for any help on these 2 queries
Best Regards Lilian

Hello Lilian,
I would recommend you apply for your father's Service Records, which you
should find of considerable interest. When I successfully applied for my
father's records, the Ministry of Defence even returned his 'dog tags' i.e.
his identity discs. An interesting piece of family history for future
generations.
In answer to your second query, you could try googling for the relevant
Regimental Museums or Associations - they can hold a lot of information.
Good Luck
John Holmes

My grateful thanks to everyone who replied to my queries - I have now
printed and completed the relevant forms and these will be posted tomorrow -
and hope that I don't have to wait too long for my information. It never
ceases to amaze me how quickly all my questions are answered.
Regarding Find my Past Cheshire query , the information that I don't seem
able to find at the moment are - The Baptism of Alice Sigley, I think it is
possible that her father was William but am unsure of this and I have no
idea of her mother and so I can't find a marriage for her parents. Alice
was born c1771 and married John Riding and both died in the same year 1839.
I have looked at the Staffordshire Lists as I know that the name of Sigley
crops up in Leek and the surrounding areas, but no luck there either.
I have also been trying to knock down another of my brick walls in
Cheshire - I have the baptism of Joseph Pearson in 1782 his father is John
and mother Ann, however I haven't been able to find a marriage for them, so
again any help would be most welcome.
Once again my thanks to all - Best Wishes Lilian
