Once again my thanks to everyone for their help in finding my Alice and William Srigley, I
had previously tried ticking the Variants box and then I just entered Alice without a
surname but with no success on either, but now I am able to look closer at my Mother's
family so I am really pleased about that.
Regarding my query 'World War 2' Personnel Records, I hope that I am well on the
way to receiving this information and that it will give me an insight into the life of my
father when he was a regular soldier, and hopefully what happened in France with the BEF.
Best Regards Lilian

It is in the Bishops Transcripts and you need to search using the surname SRIGLEY.
William and Elizabeth baptised several children at Cheadle from 1756 and there is a
marriage at Cheadle:
17 Jan 1755 William Shrigley and Elizaabeth Jepson

Hello Christine, Lesley and everyone who have been so helpful, My Joseph Pearson was born
c 1782 so his parents John and Ann would probably have married before his birth and I
can't find them at all.
I am still having a problem with Find my Past. Ruth has found my Alice
Sigley(Shrigley) baptism c1770 with her parents William and Elizabeth, in Cheadle,
Cheshire, and the Churchwarden named as Joseph Higham, and I have looked at both the BTs
baptisms and the Parish Record baptism and I am still unable to find it, so I must be
doing something wrong, but I have no idea what that is.
Alice married John Riding and their daughter Elizabeth married Thomas Higham, whose father
was Joseph Higham, so possibly the Churchwarden at Alice's baptism was Thomas'
father, if not it seems a great coincidence.
Christine all my Pearson family seem to be from the Alderley, Prestbury and Macclesfield
area
I do hope that someone can set me right about Find My Past as this is so frustrating.
Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to help.
Regards Lilian

Hi Lilian,
I think Lesley has a couple of typos in her reply. And there are a lot of John PEARSON -
Ann marriages. I have PEARSONs in Wilmslow and the surrounding area but cannot tie in to
your Joseph at present.
My earliest is Henry, b c 1779, lived Morley, Cheshire. There are 2 potential baptisms for
him, one in Macclesfield and one in Marple but I am not inclined to to believe either as
there is a DNA link to an earlier Wilmslow family. I think it more likely that he
wasn't baptised / the record got lost / the records are not online. But I could be
wrong.
I would love to hear if you find any connection.
Christine

I have also been trying to knock down another of my brick
walls in Cheshire - I have the baptism of Joseph Pearson in 1782 his father is John and
mother Ann, however I haven't been able to find a marriage for them, so again any help
would be most welcome.
