According to the GRO death index. Margaret Bevan Castle was born 22Aug1904
so her birth should have been registered in September quarter 1904. There
was however, no birth registered in that quarter in England and Wales with
the forenames Margaret Bevan.
Let's work back using the obvious online resources.
Only likely marriage of SHAKESPEAR with wife Myra B (from FreeBMD) is in
Oundle registration district, Northants, in September quarter 1964, the wife
being Myra B JONES. The husband was John A. Shakespear.
They appear to have had two daughters in Birmingham registration district in
1965 and 1967, one with second initial B, the other with second name BEVAN.
Find them on FreeBMD by searching on births from 1964 to 1983 with surname
SHAKESPEAR and mother's name JONES.
One married Hugh M Hughes in Newport registration district in April quarter
1989. The other Married Shaun Wood in December quarter 1989 in Newport
registration district.
These ladies may still be in that area. Alternatively you can search
Ancestry on surname and mother's maiden name. Approximate matches suggest
that the Hughes family may have been in Birmingham in the 1990s and the Wood
family in Leeds.
Going back to Myra B. Jones, I am interested to see that one of the many
possibilities was born in December quarter 1942 in Wrexham registration
district with a mother's maiden name BEVAN.
There are a number of possible marriages of a male JONES with Margaret BEVAN
in the years leading to 1942, the most likely being a Daniel J. JONES in
Pontypridd registration district in December quarter 1939 and a William N.
Jones in September quarter 1941 in Birmingham Registration district.
Looking for a marriage of a Margaret B JONES (presumably widowed) and a male
CASTLE, the one that jumps out at me is in September quarter 1968 in Oundle
registration district, the husband being Humphrey A Castle.
Humphrey Arthur Castle was born in December quarter 1899 in Biggleswade
registration district, and his first marriage was in June quarter 1925 to
Lucy M Tilbrook in Hitchin registration district. I suspect that the
relevant death of Lucy M Castle was in March quarter 1968 in Peterborough
registration district, in which case Humphrey was not a widower for long.
All this leads me to suggest that Margaret was Margaret Bevan, born 22 Aug
1904. The only Margaret Bevan without a middle name whose birth was
registered in the appropriate quarter was in NEATH registration district.
I think that the most likely 1911 census entry is in Abergwynfi in the Afan
valley (Neath registration district) in the household of Thomas POWELL 49
and his wife Mary 48, their daughter Maggie Powell, 21 and son William Edgar
Powell, 14 all born Maesteg. Also in the household are John Bevan,
brother-in-law, 42, married, horse driver below ground, born Maesteg, and
Richard Hugh Bevan, 7, nephew and Maggie Bevan, niece, 6, both born
Abergwynfi.
One possible marriage for Margaret's parents would be in June quarter 1898
if her mother was Margaret Ann Roberts. However that seems unlikely as in
1901 at 23 Commercial Street, Abergwynfi, Johnny Bevan age 32 was shown as
single. The household comprised
Richard Bevan 68 widr Contractor
Johnny Bevan 32 S Haulier
Richard J Bevan S 22 Haulier
Rees Bevan S 17 Haulier
Thos Powell 39 M son-in-law Coal miner
Mary Powell 38 M daughter
Catherine A Powell 14 S Niece
Margaret Powell 11 niece
William E Powell 4 nephew
All of them are shown as born in Maesteg.
As the children were born in Abergwynfi, I wonder whether Margaret's
mother's marriage took place there. If her father was David John Bevan he
might have married Margaret Ann Hussey in 1902 in Neath district. However
that is a surmise.
This may be the wrong family, and you may well have been down this road
before, but I think that the birth certificate of Margaret Bevan in Neath in
Sep qr 1904 may well be worth looking at, especially if the date of birth
was 22nd August. If it was in Abergwynfi, then chasing the Bevan family back
may establish Johnny's full name and that may help you find a marriage to
the mother, which should then give her father's name and take you back into
censuses where you can see if you can establish the relationship.
There is of course a possibility that Mrs Castle was mistaken, or had
misunderstood a family story. If you start with
Jonathan and Frances Morgan or the other Morgan family and try to see
whether any of their descendants ended up in Abergwynfi or elsewhere in the
Afan valley (or indeed in Treherbert or the top of the Rhondda Fawr valley,
as the Rhondda & Swansea Bay railway tunnel was open in the early 1900s) you
might establish the connection. You might also find where Margaret's mother
was on census night 1911.

Mary B Shakespear was on the Electoral Roll at 77 Caerphilly Road,
Bassaleg, Newport, NP10 9LJ until 2006. John Shakespear also listed. I
can't find any further record of her. Trust this assists a little.
