Hello all
I'm trying to trace a GLADYS JAMES, born c.1900, Crumlin//Pontypool
area. My grandparents moved from London to Crumlin around 1913 and
I'm told they had relations there by the name of JAMES and JENKINS. A
Gladys James was mentioned by an ederly aunt.
I've recently unearthed another line of our family with the MORGAN
surname in Grosmont, Monmouthshire, so the relationship to us of the
JAMES family might tie in with the Morgans.
I found a GLADYS EMILY JAMES b. Jun Qtr 1900, Pontypool, but born
Crumlin on the 1901 Census, aged 1, living with her mother ELIZABETH
JAMES, born Henllys, Mon. Elizabeth stated that she was married, but
no husband listed.
My grandfather worked as a winder at Hafodrynys mine, and my
grandmother took over a little general shop in Crumlin which became
"Charlton's Corner", I'm told. Their surname was CHARLTON.
If any of this rings any bells wtih anyone, I would love to hear from
you!
Many thanks -
Frances
