Hello Stuart,
There is lots of information on Charles William Usherwood on the internet,
he went to Usk prison as the Deputy Governor and became Governor in 1880
but he died later that year aged 49, leaving a wife and six children, his
wife lived until 1932.
I expect you know he was born in Yorkshire the fourth child of ten
children, and wrote a journal whilst in the Army and this was shared by the
museum, and thanks was given to his living relative Kenneth Usherwood.
Have you any contact with Kenneth who must be a Ancestral direct line to
Charles.
