hello list, can anyone please tell me where to make an enquiry regards
trying to find if an obituary exists for someone buried 1880 at st mary usk.
kind regards stuart in rotherham south yorkshire.
The South Wales Argus was in print at that time and as the "local" daily
paper it would be the most likely to carry any obituaries. As far as I am
aware this newspapers archives are not yet available online. There is a
complete run of the paper for that time on microfilm in Newport Reference
Library and they do run a research service. It isn't cheap so it depends on
how much the information is worth to you. You could try joining the Gwent
family history society, they have members who are prepared to do local
research for other members and then all you would have to pay for would be
copying charges for anything they find and postage to get it to you. Worth a
thought
