Hi Jan
Well, I have tried all ways to find a marriage for you.
I estimated that if Edward was 5 in 1881 (you said 15 but I think you made a
slip there), that they would have married about 1871 to 1876.
Now, it is possible to look at the St. Caths Indexes by using Free BMD. You
page up quarter by quarter the name RICHARDSON(better than trying to look
for MORGAN) and use the scan available for anybody. In that way you can look
for all the RICHARDSONs in that quarter. Not all have been done by Free BMD
but they do appear on the St Caths Index pages and you can see them that
way. A bit devious but it works. I have looked from 1871 up to 1881 and can
find nothing at all. I could of course have missed some but I was fairly
methodical. I looked under both Agnes and Margaret.
So, not thinking that they didn't marry since they lived close to each other
and everybody would know that they hadn't??? I ask myself "Was she married
before and became a widow?" It's worth a thought.
I can find this one but it's most probably not her as in the wrong area.
Marriages Jun 1871 (>99%)
Hughes Joseph Robert Hereford 6a 894
Richardson Agnes Hereford 6a 894
..........................................................
Deaths Dec 1874 (>99%)
HUGHES Joseph Robert 60 Crickhowell 11b 101
Once again though, would she have married someone aged 57? Probably not. I
looked at other censuses and this Joseph Robert HUGHES was a farmer parents
Robert and Augusta HUGHES down as ESQ.from Llanarth, Mon (Llanarth is near
Abergavenny and Bedwellty and not far from the other places)not married in
1871. This may be Llanarth Court quite a large house where she may have been
a maid. He just could have married your Agnes and then died fairly soon.
All speculation on my part but since you are struggling, it may be worth a
chance.
Sorry I can't be of much help. I'll keep my eyes open for her.
Bye
Dawn

Subject: [MON] John MORGAN/Margaret Agnes RICHARDSON marriage
Hi Dawn & other listers
Thank you Dawn for your reply.
Here are the family details for John MORGAN & Margaret Agnes
RICHARDSON, as requested.
John was born c 1848/1849. Impossible yet to be sure which John
MORGAN is ours with such a common name in Wales! Margaret Agnes
RICHARDSON was born Q2 1848 Abergavenny 26/61, parents Joseph
RICHARDSON b about 1811 Redheugh DURHAM & Matilda NEWMAN b c 1817,
Tredegar. In 1851 the family is living at the Lodge Bedwellty House,
where Joseph is a gardener. The siblings of Margaret Agnes are
Elizabeth, Mary Ann & Caroline.
In 1851 John MORGAN & family are living at Rhymney Iron Works
(Tredegar Road Row). Parents Edward MORGAN & Margaret (probably with
MORGAN also as her maiden name). John's siblings are Edward b 1851 &
Jasper Albert.
In 1861 both families are living 2 doors from each other in Moriah
Row Uchlawrcoed hamlet, Rumney, Bedwellty
In 1871, John's family is still in Uchlawrcoed at 7 Moriah St,
although John himself is not present. Difficyult to know which John
MORGAN is ours, since he is probably lodging somewhere away from his
family.
Agnes RICHARDSON (sic) & family are at 8 Moriah St
In 1881 Agnes & John are apparently married & living at 130 Hill St,
Uchlawrcoed Rhymney with children Edward,15, Matilda A, 3, Joseph R
MORGAN,10mo. Ancestry has transcribed Margaret as William A. All
children born Bedwellty. By 1891 the family is back in Moriah St.
Hope you are able to help to establish a marriage & location for John
MORGAN & Margaret Agnes RICHARDSON
