Mr. Nicholas RUSSELL, stationmaster at Church Village, Llantwit Fardre, and Mrs. RUSSELL
are about to celebrate their golden wedding.
Mr. RUSSELL, who began his railway career in 1872, had seen 54 1/2 years' service, for
29 of which he had been in charge of Llantwit Fardre and Church Village Stations. He
remembers the first train arriving at Cowbridge Station on the old Cowbridge Railway.
He was booking-clerk at Porth at the time of the Tynewydd Colliery inundation, and issued
the last passenger ticket at the old station there and the first ticket at the present
one. Mr. RUSSELL was born at St. Hilary, Cowbridge, and Mrs. RUSSELL at Cymmer, near
Pontypridd. She was the niece of the late Josiah LEWIS, Tynycymmer Hotel. (Head and

Mr. William BROWN, formerly licensee of the Globe Hotel, Abertillery, was buried in the
Aberbeeg Cemetery on Saturday. The funeral was attended by a large number of public men.
The family mourners were: Messrs. Leonard BROWN (son), John BROWN and James BROWN
(brothers), and T. PREECE (father-in-law).

Whilst Miss G. N. EVANS, of Neath-road, Hafod, was walking along High-street, Swansea, on
Saturday, a large iron frame window fell from a roof above her. She is suffering from cuts
and shock.
