The final deliberations are being made with a view to having Blaenavon, with
it's important historical connections and artefacts, declared as a WORLD
HERITAGE SITE. This status is vitally important to the future of this
unique town as a living monument to the industrial revolution.
The announmcement is to be made in Australia at 0830 GMT and arrangements
have been made to relay the announcement live to Blaenavon Workmen's Hall,
where many of the town's population will be waiting eagerly for the news..
The bellringers at St Peter's Church will be ready to ring out Blaenavon's
new status - that should wake 'em up!
No doubt the evnt will be celebrated in Blaenavon's clubs and pubs as only
Blaenavonites know how ... Best excuse for a pub crawl for years!
The event has received front page prominence in The South Wales Argus, and
the full story can be read at
http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/
Read all about it - it's our heritage
Best wishes all
Bryan
PS: Of course it could all go wrong, but we don't want to even THINK about
that ...
From border Monmouthshire, between the Severn bridges ...
We've rescued the last Severn ferry boat from the scrap yard!
A little bit of Chepstow's history is saved for future generations to
enjoy!
