Hi Jan
Have a look at this page
http://industrialgwent.co.uk/risca.htm Scroll to
the bottom for link to lots of good photos about the old colliery.
There is a cemetery where some of the recovered bodies from an explosion in
1860 have been laid to rest on the opposite side of the valley, overlooking
the old colliery. Let me know if you want directions. A good write can be
found here

Unfortunately though it seems as if the actual site is no longer live, hence
the lack of images.
I'll send you an old map showing the locations.
The site Robert has mentioned is the north Risca Blackvein which was a
different pit.

Many thanks for that Robert. The map gives us a good idea of where it is.

Vein Pit, Risca
Hi Jan
The colliery seems to be on the site of the present South Blackvein
Industrial Estate
http://tinyurl.com/3eqe7o5 should give you the location

I forgot to ask in my last email, if anyone can tell me if there is
anything left to see of the Black Vein Pit at Risca?
Is anyone able to tell me the area of Risca where we could see any
remains of it?
The nearest postcode to it etc?
