No one is terribly clear about when the Record Office will be open in the
new premises, but it certainly won't be before the end of May. It will
probably be September before they open the doors to researchers.
The Gwent Family History Society Open Day is on June 11th at County Hall,
Cwmbran so it looks as though you will miss that too, David. If you could
delay leaving for a day it would be well worth your time to take in the Open
Day. Admission is free for everyone 10am to 3.30pm there are around 40
different family history societies and commercial companies who will have a
stand (booth in American) at the Open Day including Parish Chest and all the
FH societies from the areas surrounding the old county of Monmouthshire.

Does anyone have any information as to when Gwent Archives will be moving to
their new premises?
I shall be in Monmouthshire for ten days from 31st May, and wish to search
the Monmouthshire Constabulary records.

Many thanks for your reply, Ann. Unfortunately I won't be able to stay on
for the open day.
Regards.....David
