CARDIFF WIFE' SUIT-Husband And His Shop Manageress.
Married at St. Saviour's Church, in January, 1919, Hilda Margaret BRAILEY, for
whom Mr. T. W. LANGMAN appeared, petitioned for divorce from her husband Edward
Arthur BRAILEY.
Petitioner said that after the marriage she and her husband lived at
Clifton-street, Cardiff. After quarrels, respondent ordered her to leave in
January,1926, and since that date they had not lived together. Later respondent
appointed a woman named Vera CLIFFORD, as manageress of one of his shops, and on
May 24, 1926, petitioner saw respondent and the woman CLIFFORD at Barry Island
in respondent's car. Subsequently, when watch was kept, respondent and the woman
CLIFFORD were seen to enter a house in Dover-street, Cardiff, one evening and
leave again the following morning.
A decree nisi. with costs, was granted, the question of custody being
referred to the chambers on the application of counsel.
BUTCHER TO PAY £100.-Cardiff Husband's Shock Return From War.
A jury was sworn in in the suit GAMLIN v GAMLIN, HOSKINGS and HEATLEY being
cited as co-respondents. Petitioner, Robert Albert GAMLIN, said he resided at
Maslin-villas, Hounslow. He married the respondent, Maria GAMLIN, at Cardiff in
1914. He was in the Army until 1919 and on returning he met his wife with the
co-respondent HOSKINS, who was a butcher, and who told him, "She is a wife to me
and nothing to you." Respondent then left him, and evidence was now called that
she was at present living with John HEATLEY as man and wife.
Damages were claimed against HOSKINGS only. Petitioner, recalled, said that
until his wife met this co-respondent she had been an affectionate wife.
A decree nisi, with custody of one child, was granted, and the jury awarded
petitioner £100 damages against HOSKINGS.
Mr. J. J. DAVIES (instructed by Messrs. E. W. DAVID and PARRY) appeared for
the petitioner.
WHEEL IN TRAMLINE AT CARDIFF.
Reginald PLAYER (20), a motor-driver, of Crwys-road, was fined £4 and costs at
Cardiff on Thursday for dangerously driving a motor-car. Mr. Gordon WILLIAMS
prosecuted: Mr. Barnett JANNER defended.
It was stated that defendant crashed into an iron horse-trough near Victoria
Park. The car turned over and there was an explosion.
Mr. JANNER said that defendant was driving at about twenty miles an hour when
one of the wheels caught in a tramline and darted across the road.
Edgar PYLE, a Treharris greengrocer, was unloading rubbish on to a tip in
Cardiff road when the horse and cart went tumbling down, a distance of 50 yards,
to the river below. The cart was smashed to pieces, but the horse escaped with
only a few scratches.

66 years.

Station-street Primitive Methodist Church, Newport, on Thursday.
