A COWBRIDGE WILL.-Mr. David TILLEY Leaves £7,000.
Mr. David TILLEY, of Ivy House, Cowbridge, retired coachbuilder, who died on
June 29, aged 70 years, left estate of the gross value of £7,076, with net
personalty £6,140. Probate of the will, dated June 14, 1926, has been granted to
his widow, Mrs. Gwenllian TILLEY, and Mr. W. H. PETHYBRIDGE, of 97, St.
Mary-street, Cardiff, solicitor. Testator left his household effects to his
wife, and the residue of the property in trust for her during widowhood, or £80
per annum should she re-marry, and subject thereto for his children or their
issue, whom, failing, as to one half to his wife absolutely and one half towards
the erection of a parish-hall for Cowbridge, to be used for Sunday school or
other parochial purposes.
CANTON TRAGEDY.-Fish Shop Proprietor Found Dead.
William ROUTLEY, a fish and chip shop proprietor, of Theobald-road, Canton,
Cardiff, was found dead on Thursday night with his head in a gas oven.
It was stated that on Tuesday last his wife went on a visit to his mother in
the Rhondda Valley and when she returned on Thursday she could not get any
answer to her knocking.
Neighbours were called and on entering the house they found the man as stated.
FELL UNDER TRAIN-Pantyffynon Schoolboy's Tragic End.
Sidney BURGESS (14), second son of Mr. and Mrs. William BURGESS, of Old Dynevor
Cottages, Pantyffynnon, was aparently playing on the Pantyffynnon Station
platform on Thursday when he fell under a coal train passing through towards
Tirydail and was killed instantaneously.
Dr. L. E. LEWIS and his assistant (Dr. GRIFFITHS) were almost immediately on
the scene, but the unfortunate boy was beyond aid.
Mr. Reginald H. DAVIES, bass vocalist, of Llanishen, was one of the finalists in
the championship cup for the winners of the gold medalist classes in the final
night of the Swindon Free Church Eisteddfod.
Excelsior Male Glee Society, under the baton of Mr. Eddie JONES, rendered " The
Martyrs of the Arena " at Haverfordwest.
TREHERBERT MAN MISSING.
Mr. Robert T. DUNCAN, Trehebert, has been missing since Tuesday morning last.
He is about 46 years of age and his well known in the Upper Rhondda. Mr. DUNCAN
was an old member of the Treherbert Rugby Football Club.
CARDIFF GIRL CYCLIST INJURED.
Miss Florence JOHNS, 35, Talworth-street, Cardiff, was cycling along
Penarth-road on Thursday morning when she came into collision with a
motor-lorry, and sustained a severe head injury. She was removed to the Cardiff
Infirmary , and on Thursday night her condition was stated to be satisfactory.
CARDIFF DOCKS ACCIDENT-Two Men Injured In Demolition Work.
George WILLIAMS, 3, Garth-place, and Thomas SHADDOCK, 26, St. Athan's-road
Mynachdy, Cardiff, were admitted to the Cardiff Royal Infirmary on Thursday
suffered from injuries received while engaged on demolition work at the old
cleaning sheds at the Great Western Railway Dock Station.
WILLIAMS was detained, but SHADDOCK was able to proceed home.
The men, along with others who received minor injuries, were struck by debris
when one of the principals of a dismantled roof collapsed.
A GOLDEN WEDDING.-Mr. and Mrs. Wm. MORGAN Of Brynamman.
Mr. and Mrs. William MORGAN, of Penycae, Brynamman, Carmarthenshire, celebrated
their golden wedding on Thursday. Mr. MORGAN is the oldest tenant in Brynamman,
having been born at Penycae 76 years ago, and has spent the whole of his life in
the same house. He is people's warden for St. Catherine's Church, having filled
that office for 30 successive years. He was also organist at the same church
when it was built 45 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. MORGAN have four sons, viz., Mr. David MORGAN, colliery weigher
at the Collie Collieries, Western Australia; Mr. Gomer MORGAN, clerk in the
Youngstown Sheet and Tube Mills, America; Mr. William MORGAN, manager of the
Gorsgoch Colliery, Brynamman, and Mr. T. MORGAN, vice-chairman of the Quarter
Bach Parish Council, member of the parochial church council, and secretary of
the St. Catherine's Church Sunday School.
Mr. and Mrs. MORGAN were the recipients of the congratulations and good wishes
of a host of friends.
