Hi listers,
With a surname like THOMAS, no family history research is going to be that easy. With the
mother's maiden name of TILEY, it does make it slightly easier, although my THOMAS
family's BMD records were few and so I didn't really benefit from this either.
What I know:
William THOMAS and Elizabeth TILEY married in 1902 and had a total of 5 children,
(although our family only seems to know about 3 of them):
Eleanor Mary 1904-1987 (my grandmother).
William George 1911-???? (10 days old at the time of the 1911 Census).
Ceridwen 1915-1915.
Elizabeth Megan 1918-1988.
According to the 1911 Census information, William and Elizabeth had 3 children, 2 still
alive, and 1 who had died ... most likely between my grandmother and William George.
Obviously, Birth indexes aren't going to show the TILEY maiden name between 1904 and
July 1911, so there's no way of knowing whether the 2nd child was a boy or girl or
what his or her name was. the William George who was 10 days old in 1911 and who would
appear to have died soon after doesn't seem to appear in the Birth or Death indexes,
or at least not on Free BMD, the only indexes I can search as a blind person. Maybe the
same happened to him as did one of my wife's great uncles, he appeared in the 1881
census as Ernest John ALBRAY and was just 5 days old, but his birth was registered under
the name Percy Douglas ALBRAY........not even close, but at least the surname was
unusual!
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I may be able to find out who the 2nd child was,
and how I might be able to find out if William George was registered under a different
name and when he died? Any help, pointers, suggestions, etc would be most deeply
appreciated!
Kindest regards to all,
Jon
