WELSH WEDDING.- PIERCE - PHILLIPS.
The Rev. P. D. PIERCE and Mrs. H. PHILLIPS, of Llwyhenry, Maesteg, were married
at Trinity Church, Aberayron. The vicar (the Rev. D. J. JONES) officiated,
assisted by the Rector of Llangranog (the Rev. J. DAVIES, M.A.). The bride was
attended by Miss N. BEVAN and Mrs. ROTHAM as bridemaids, and the bridegroom was
attended by Mr. E. DAVIES, of Dom Castell, Llangranog, as best man and Mr. D.
DAVIES as groomsman. A reception was afterwards held at the Feathers Hotel and
local children were entertained at the residence of the bridegroom, Bridgend
Villa, Llangranog.
PONTYPOOL CYCLIST HURT.
Mr. Harry DAVIES, of Pontypool, a cashier employed at Ebbw Vale, was admitted to
the Pontypool Hospital on Saturday night suffering from head wounds as the
result of a collision between the motor-cycle driven by him and a motor-car at
Cwm Fields, Pontypool.
OBITUARIES.
MR. J. W. JONES, NELSON.
After a long illness, Mr. John William JONES, tailor and outfitter, died at
Nelson on Saturday in his forty-sixth year. He served with the Royal Air Force
in France during the war and had been in failing health ever since. He was a
member of the Welsh Baptist Church at Berthlwyd, a Sunday school teacher and a
member of the local male voice choir and of the Amateur Dramatic Society. He is
survived by his wife and one daughter.
MR. J. HAVARD THOMAS, CARDIFF.
The death occurred at his residence 165, Cathedral-road, Cardiff, on Saturday of
Mr. John HAVARD THOMAS, who was 61 years of age. Formerly a mining engineer. Mr.
THOMAS had for many years been associated with the firm of E. T. LYDDON and
Sons, stock and share brokers, Bute-street. He is mourned by a widow.
LATE MR. E. WILLIAMS, LLANISHEN.
Mr. Edward WILLIAMS, of Nythfan, Melbourne-road, Llanishen, was buried on
Saturday in the cemetery at Waentreoda, Whitchurch. There was a large and
representative gathering. The service at the house was conducted by the Revs.
Evan JENKINS (pastor of Capel Gwilym, Thornhill) and W. G. LEGASSICK,
B.D.(Llanishen). At the church the Revs. T. DAVIES (late Lisvane), W. MORRIS
(Llandough), Samuel JONES, (Gabalfa), Luther JONES (Whitchurch), Samuel JONES,
B.A., (Rhiwbina) and Evan JENKINS (Capel Gwilym) officiated.

RECENT WILL.- MR. L. FOTHERGILL, RHIWBINA.
Mr. Lancelot FOTHERGILL, of Brooklyn, Rhiwbina, late of The Hayes, Cardiff,
tobacconist, who died on September 21, aged 51 years, left estate of the gross
value of £17,040, with net personalty £13,561. Probate of the will, dated March
28, 1926, has been granted to his widow, Mrs. Jessie Bond FOTHERGILL, and Mr.
Job FOOKS, of 2, Park-place, Cardiff, accountant. Testator left his household
effects to his wife, and the residue of the property in trust for her for life ,
with remainder in trust for his son Lindsay.
