FUNERAL OF MR. T. JONES, NANTYGLO.
Mr. Thomas JONES, of Nantyglo, was buried on Thursday, and a large attendance
included representatives of all local bodies. A memorial service was held at
Tabor Baptist Church, where Mr. JONES served as a deacon for many years. His
fellow-officers acted as bearers, and the veteran pastor, the Rev. H. I. EVANS,
officiated. The chief mourners were Messrs. T. Rowley JONES, Brinley JONES, and
Gurnos JONES (sons).

All classes were represented at the funeral on Thursday of Capt. T. H. KNOWLES,
the Blue Anchor Hotel, Cardiff. Capt. KNOWLES had a distinguished record in the
Army, and his old comrades paid a fitting tribute to a popular officer, while
Freemasonry, the licensed victuallers' trade, sport of all branches, and the
general public were present.
Full military honours were accorded, and in addition to the firing party
supplied by the Welch Regiment there were present a number of officers, warrant
officers, and non-commissioned officers from the various Regular Army and
Territorial units.
The chief mourners was Mr. George MARTIN (brother-in-law), and others present
were Capt. R. O. GITTENS, D.C.M. (9th Lancers), Capt. H. JEPSON (7th Hussars),
Major F. C. S. BEAVAN, Inspector HILL, (Glamorgan Police), R.S.M. I. CAPLE
(Coldstream Guards), Mr. T. W. WALMSLEY (managing director, Messrs. CROSSWELLS,
Cardiff Brewery, Limited), Mr. Albert DALEY, Capt. A. L. HOWELL, Mr. Reginald
WATHEN, and Mr. Llew. WILLIAMS.
THE LATE MR. L. C. POLLARD, CARDIFF.
The funeral took place at Cardiff Cemetery on Thursday of Mr. Leonard Charles
POLLARD, chief clerk at the Docks branch of the Ministry of Labour, whose home
was in Mayfield-avenue, Canton.
The chief mourners were Mr. S. POLLARD (father), Mr. E. G'BBY (father-in-law),
Messrs. S. POLLARD, E. POLLARD, and A. POLLARD (brothers), N. MARSHMAN and M.
WHEELER (brothers-in-law), and A. POLLARD (cousin).
Others present included Mr. A. H. ROBERTS (manager Labour Exchange, Docks),
Mr. R. A. JENKINS (deputy manager), and Mr. T. DAVIES and Mr. J. R. DAVIES
(Regional Divisional Control).
The bearers were Messrs. T. L. WEST, R.G EVANS, G. H. DAVIES, and W. I. DAVIES.
The Rev.J. T. RICHARDS (vicar of St. Luke's) officiated both at the house and at
the cemetery. The Masonic rites were observed at the graveside by Mr. FOWLER.
MR. T. DURSTON, CARDIFF.
Mr. Thomas DURSTON died at 31, Plasturton-gardens, Cardiff, on Thursday, at the
age of 79 years, following a long illness. He came to Cardiff from Bristol-of
which city he was a freeman-nearly 50 years ago, and was formerly connected with
the firm of A. R. THOMAS, timber merchants, Cardiff. He is survived by a widow
and four daughters.
THE LATE MR. H. E. LEE, DOWLAIS.
Mr. H. E. LEE, of White-street, Dowlais, formerly stationmaster at Pontyrhyll
for many years, was buried on Thursday at Llangenir. A large and representative
gathering formed the cortege, and Mr. LEE'S favourite hymns were sung on leaving
Merthyr for the churchyard, and at the church by the choir.
The chief mourners were Mrs. LEE (widow), Mr. and Mrs. LOUGHER, Ogmore Vale
(son-in-law and daughter): the Rev. and Mrs. M. W. MOLLIN, Barry (son-in-law and
daughter), Miss Betty LOUGHER (niece), Master David and Miss Joan MOLLIN (nephew
and niece) Mr. W. F. PHILLIPS, London (nephew); Mr. David KEDDART, Merthyr
(brother-in-law); and Messrs. James and H. LEE, Maesteg, T. E. ROGERS, Tondu
(nephews).
The Rev. E. DAVIES (Beulah) and the Rev. C. J. PIPE, A.T.S. (Bargoed),
officiated at a service held at the residence and at the Llangenir Church the
Revs. Yorath JONES, B.A. (Maesteg), D. DAVIES, B.D. (Caerphilly), William THOMAS
(Blaengarw), and E. PHILLIPS (Garw Valley) conducted the interment.

Details- Family gathering at Castletoch, Laugharne, at the celebration of the
golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. R. THOMAS. Mr. and Mrs. THOMAS were married in
1876 at Trinity Chapel, Llanboidy. Mr. R. THOMAS being the son of Mr. and Mrs.
THOMAS, Castelldrinog, Llanboidy. Mrs. THOMAS was the daughter of Maesgwyne
ISHAF, Llanboidy, her father being farm bailiff on the Maesgwyne Estate.
They lived for 22 years at Ballymawr, Llanboidy, on the Maesgwyne Estate, and
seven years at Great Pale Farm, Whitland, and the last 22 years at Castletoch,
Laugharne. The group includes eleven children.
