Hello Karlene,
My Davis ancestor had a tailor shop at Chapel street circa 1861. They
came from Bradford on Avon about 1845. Chapel street was around Red Lion
Square, where the Red Lion pub is now. Harcourt street and Queen street
are adjoining.
There are numerous Churches and chapels locally. What was their
religion? The Municipal Cemetery is at Cefn Golau. Most of the Davis
family were buried there at that time (ie 1861+) Burials were at the
Municipal, unless permission was given to bury the family at the Church
or Chapel graveyards.
best wishes

Hello list~I have noticed alot of listers inquiring about locations.
Does
anyone have information on Chapel Street in Tredegar and which
church/cemetery would be close? Would love to find my ggrandfather.
For the 1881 census this is were they lived.
Thanks for any help.
