I'm afraid I have to agree with what Gwynne says - and can I add that I am
mystified by some elementary questions about the Great Britain (never just
"England" please) that can be answered by a simple search engine enquiry.
www.Google.com will answer most questions - try it!

Subject: [Mon] 1881 Look ups
In answer to Barbara's question and Hazel's comments:
I used to do 1881 look ups on list, but I don't any more. There are
several
reasons:
1) I was fed up with people not saying thanks.
2) I thought (1) was mean so I am on look up exchanges where I do look ups
on the several census and other CDs I have, including advanced searches of
the 1881. If people take the bother to find you on an exchange they are
usually the type to say, "Thank you", and not ask you to do blanket
searches, "All **********" , because they are too tight to buy the discs.
3) The 1881 census is widely available in libraries and record offices and
all LDS family history centres in the UK and many places world wide - why
do
people who could get to these places need answers on the list?
4) The format is copyright to the LDS if more people bought the discs more
money would go into filming or indexing other useful stuff.
5) I keep seeing the same names asking for look ups in the 1881 and,
frankly, if they need that many and are that serious about family history
I
think they should buy the discs.
6) I constantly break my own rules when I see a new name asking for a look
up but I always answer off-list.
7) I'm not as nice as Hazel
I'm always happy to do look ups on the Brec 1851, Bristol and East Som
1851,
Mormon Immigration Index, Devon, Norfolk and Warwicks 1851, advanced
searches on the 1881 and another one I can't mention in case the Family
History police come after me. But contact me via a look up exchange or
privately.

constantly looking for Cottles, Palmers, Tuckers and Powells in Ebbw Vale.
