Hi Brenda and Margaret,
Just had an interesting turn of events. As I am searching for the
birthplace of my GG Grandmother Esther MAGGS in Wales born 3 Jul 1855-56,
we were also doing sideline searches for George DANDO in Wales, born 1838
to Lloyd DANDO. Esther's half-sister married George DANDO and Esther
raised their four daughters after his wife died early.
Now a new twist to the story....
Although we knew Esther MAGGS' father was Frank MAGGS, born 1813, we
didn't know her mother's name. Well, as the saying goes when you can't
go back, go sideways!!! Well, it worked again. I just received in the
mail the death certificate of Frank MAGGS, Jr. born 5 Aug 1851 to Frank
MAGGS, Sr. and....
wait for it....
Mary Ann DANDO!
So George DANDO was not only a brother-in-law to Esther's half-sister by
her father's second marriage, he was probably also a nephew to her mother
Mary Ann DANDO.
So more names to work with, more dates, but still no places. The search
goes on...
I'm getting back to my transcribing for FreeBMD at
Rootsweb.com. Maybe
we'll turn up a few new DANDO's in the process! We can always use more
transcriber's and if you have regular access to a fiche or film reader we
need help checking transcriptions as well!!!
Many thanks for the continued help and kindness. Brenda, I received your
attachment today and all went perfectly.
Best wishes,
Dawn Perry-Taft e-mail: slo_taft(a)juno.com
