Bryan,
it may surprise you to know that I , my father , my grandfather. my
great grandfather and my gg grandfather (in 1790 I cannot go any farther
back) were all born in Monmouthshire and I expect a large percentage of
the present population of Torfaen, Newport, Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly
were also born and bred in Monmouthshire , so I do not understand your
argument.
You may not be confused but you will have seen the dozens of queries on
these lists from many who are .

Not to those who were born and bred in Monmouthshire when the whole thing
WAS Monmouthshire, Arthur. The name, thankfully lives on. It doesn't
confuse me, but then I'm a Monmothian, like my father before me, and his
father before him and his...zzzzzzzzzzz
Is it time to wake up? Nurse, nurse, my tablets...
Best wishes all, even the Taffs
