Does anyone have access to Baptism Records pre Civil Registration for
Pontypool. I am looking for the Baptism record for Samuel Young son of
Samuel Young born about 1836/7. He married in Manchester 1859 and according
to the Marriage Record his fathers name was also Samuel - a Mechanic. The
Census Records from 1861 onwards show that his birth place was Pontypool. I
have not found him on the 1841 or 1851 Census but he was working as a Joiner
in Manchester prior to his Marriage to Margaret Oakes. Can anyone help me
please.
Thank you.

Thank you both for your help.
Hi Steve (and Barbara(boatley) from the next reply)
Well, that was quick.
I had not got that far as the message only came in just as I was going
offline. Many thanks - saves me looking. That actually establishes that he
is not the one I had hoped he would be, as that one's name is thought to be
Bill/William. However, the person who sent the photo will be pleased to get
this info as he is connected to ECP Lloyd although his Taffy is not my
Taffy. Too many Taffys!!
I will see what I can do re the photo Barbara. If you should know more about
his present day family, please let me know.
Regards
Dawn
Hello Dawn,
It would be lovely to reconnect his photograph with his family, lets hope
that there is someone on one of the lists that may know of contact details
for his living family.

Hi
Is anyone related to or knows anything about a "Taffy" Lloyd possibly from
Pontypool. His first names would be useful. as I have only the initials
E.C.P. Lloyd was the pilot of Lancaster Bomber DV227 VN-L WW2
I have been sent a photo of him in uniform if anyone is interested - it was
sent to me by someone whose uncle was the flight engineer.

Hello Barbara.
We have the family bible we can locate him on the census 1891 can't fine him
in 1901 and 1911 he has called himself John.
what work would Joseph have done as a Collier Hewer
Think Lizzie died first at Penallt think Joseph died about 1961 again at
penallt
on 1911 by two eldest children they put Morgan cross it out and put Williams
we have Albert's birth and death certificate he never married.
bye and thanks Liz

Further to Barbara's comment about the year of the marriage, I found one of my families in 1911 who said they had been married x amount of years, and it was actually less than they had stated. I don't know if the entry matches up at all, but there is a marriage at Swansea in 1904 of a Joseph Rees Williams and there is an Elizabeth Morgan on the same page. Vol 11a page 1590.
There is also a chance that they never married at all. As distasteful as many people found it back then, it happened a lot more than many people realise or care to admit. I've found that in my own research a number of times.
Kind regards, Jon
Steve ,
that's great that you found his details so quickly, would be nice to
reunite his photograph with his family, so possibly Dawn could try to pass it on
to the family of his widow.
Regards Barbara
Hello,
Regarding the years of marriage it could have been 9 years being that the
Census was taken in April and they may have married in the third or fourth
quarter of the year.
Have you obtained any BMD's certificates at all, and where did you locate
the surname Morgan.
Regards Barbara
Good Morning List
I am hoping that someone on the list will be very kind and can help.
have been trying for years to fine the marriage of Joseph Williams and Elizabeth Morgan. What we don't know is if Elizabeth (Lizzie) had been married before.
on the 1911 Census Williams John m 8 years age 39 Collier Hewer born Slaughter Gloucestershire (Joseph)
" Elizabeth " 40 " Croydon Surrey (Lizzie)
" William Charles " 13 Collier Boy Hewer " " (Morgan)
" Llewellyn " 11 School Glamorgan Waltstown. "
" Albert Henry " 5 " Glamorgan Yryshire ( known as Bert)
The family lived at 80 JONES STREET, PHILLIPS TOWN, NEW TREDEGAR, MONMOUTH (have postcards sent to that address
Albert was born 10 Feb. 1906 dying in Banbury Oxfordshire
about 1934 they lived at Jackstone farm in Penallt (their was talk among the family that Joseph had this farm built ) two new rooms were added in 1936 this cost £220 pounds
William Charles and Llewellyn were Bert's step brothers
The farm was sold by private Treaty by Cole, Knapp and Kennedy 1977
Bert was friends of the Cassidy's who once lived High View Penallt
All the family have now passed away so any help will be much appreciated thank you for your time in reading this email
Anne and Elizabeth
If William Charles and Llewellyn were sons of John/Joseph, it would indicate
that HE was married previously, not Lizzie.
Also, have you looked for a marriage certificate for JOHN J. Williams? As so
often happens, maybe his family called him by his middle name rather than his
first.

Hello Liz,
The best way of finding out if Elizabeth had been married before is to
obtain birth certificates of her 2 children before she married Joseph
Williams, these certificates would reveal the father.
Have you searched the marriage index to look for a marriage for Elizabeth
in Croydon being that the eldest child was born there.
