Hi Ian
Tunnel Terrace and Granville Street still exist. They are both close to the
town centre and within walking distance of each other.

Hello Tony
In 1841 there is an Edmund Lloyd 60, born in county .Farrier or Farmer in
Monmouth County Gaol as a Debtor.
Cannot see any other possibility in the county.
Keith
Hi All
Would some kind person please help me track down my ggg grandfather, EDMUND LLOYD. I believe he was born in Carmarthen late 1700s I guess, but married in Pantegue Pontypool 1818. He married Eliza Harris and had six children one also called Edmund who was born in 1825.
I have found Eliza Lloyd his wife in the 1841 census, she had her children with her but no husband.
I have found Eliza Lloyd in the 1851 census, she was living in Pontypool working as a living in housekeeper to a solicitor, but no sign of her husband. It says she was married on the census. Eliza died 1852 age 53.
Eliza was on poor relief in the 1830s I have an settlement document.
I have never found EDMUND LLoyd in any census. I have a feeling he may have been in gaol or done a bunk.
I would appreciate any help, I have been searching for some years.. Thank you Tony.

Thanks everybody! You are so great. Didn't find him in 1861 but a definite finding in 1851 which has helped me enormously. I am so grateful to you. Best Wishes Dawn

Hello!
I have been researching Richard Pritchard and just discovered that his Father was called William Pritchard and was a 'Railman' in 1866. Richard was 20 in 1866 when he got married.
Would you please check 1861 for father and son in Blaenavon or that area.
I don't know William's age but Richard would have been 15 or a year either side.
Before I knew Richard's father's name someone did a search for me and found a Richard Pritchard on the 1861 census but the father was called George and the son was only 12.
I will be very grateful for your help. Kind regards Dawn

I am new to this list but hope that someone can help me.
Ancestors of my husband were married in Chepstow on July 18 1875 they were:
George CROOT 25 Miner Residing Chepstow Father William CROOT Miner
Martha PEARTON 21 Spins Residing Chepstow Father Samuel PEARTON Gasman
on 21 March 1895 they had a daughter Jane CRUTE Father Excavator and living in Plymouth
Martha CRUTE nee PEARTON died on 21 May 1936 in Plymouth
I believe George was possibly born in Hayes Middlesex and moved to Wales with his parents. The trouble is I cannot understand the change of spelling of his surname on the move to Plymouth and I cannot find George's birth details or that of his father William. I have traced a number of George CROOTs who were born in Devon but none of them are the George I require. I am also stuck on Samuel PEARTON whom I can only trace back to 1851.
Most of my husband's ancestors - at least the paternal side RICE, come from Plymouth area of Devon. We however live in Weston-super-Mare Somerset and his sister in Rotherham. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Anyone know of the section of the 1851 Census for Rock Bedwellty has ever
been released and does someone have access to it?
Sincerely,

I have been trying for months to get Brittish Origins to change my password.
I can find no area at their site where this may be accomplished. Does
anyone have a notion of how I may accomplish this act, or at very least an
answer as to how to stir "Origins" to answering the query of a yearly
subscriber?

I think that, if you know where the people you want are, then it is possible to
search the 1911 for free at
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1911/index-e.html (but it is only
indexed by geographical location so you do really need to know where they are
likely to be).
What exactly is it you are trying to find, Kevin? Is it something which will
provide a link back to who they related to in Monmouthshire?
If so, their immigration records might be useful - those often seem to list next
of kin in the country people have left.
You could try the Nanaimo FHS Passenger List indexing project at
http://members.shaw.ca/nanaimo.fhs/ .
There are some "George EVANS" listed but the nearest one seems to be a 24 year
old who emigrated in 1909 (the transcriptions are not complete yet though.)
If there's any chance they travelled back to the UK between 1925 - 1935 (for
example, to sort out an estate), then they might be in the immigration
database - http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/02011802_e.html (And I
understand the Immigration records for 1919-1924, the Form 30a, are now
available through the LDS).
If you happen to come across any mentions of Donald Martin PARRY (b. HEF 1904)
or Rowland Thomas LEWIS (b. MON 1903) out there in the mid 1920s I'd be
interested - I have a copy of the passenger list for their journey out to
Ontario in 1924, (as well as the Form 30a for Donald) but I understand that
Donald did visit Saskatchewan to work on the grain harvest at some stage. He
returned to England before 1927 but I believe Rowland Thomas LEWIS remained in
Canada.
Rowland Thomas LEWIS was born in Victoria Cottage, Llangattock Lingoed, to
Charles LEWIS and Margaret Jane LEWIS (formerly LEWIS). According to family
stories he was related to Donald PARRY, (who was my grandfather) but I haven't
yet found any connection between them. So, if anyone has information about this
particular LEWIS family (who later moved to New House, Ewyas Harold, HEF), I'd
be pleased to hear from them.
Regards
Barbara Griffiths

Hello All, I recently made contact with some relations in Canada. My Grand Uncle went to Canada in 1910.While looking through a few sites I came across what is available for researchers interested in Canada.I found an index for Homesteads in the Province of Saskatchewan....which covers up to 1930......... the 1911 census is on line....you have to pay for it of course.I went in search of a few of mine. I know a huge number went out from Wales....well worth a look. With the 1911 census available its not that difficult. It's refreshing to see the Canadian government take family history so seriously.Indeed,They are worj=king with the Irish government on getting the Irish censuses 1901 and 1911 on line. Hugh, When I posted this .... it was for the sole purpose of that very slim chance that someone might recognise a Mary Annie Williams who married a George Evans and ended up in Canada. Slim I know .......but a similar post of mine was replied to by a Professional genealogist in Boston, US and this person was able to give me all my Co Louth ancestry.I just hoped that I might get a lead on Annie......... I added very vague so I wouldn't end up getting lectured to. Al of this was post 1910 so sometimes it is worth a shot in the dark.I really find it irritating
when I have to explain myself to you.....not for the first time! I remember when this list used to be busy......it's the likes of you that put so many off. I just knew deep down....you'd have to reply.Personally Hugh when I see a post of your's I quickly reach for the delete button.... which I wish you would do to mine! ;-) Jeez, Sundays can be depressing enough.Good luck Hugh. Kevin. ps please do not feel you have to reply......i know these shots in the dark may not be up to your genealogical standards..... but hey......who cares?

Hello everyone!
I wonder if someone would mind having a look at the 1871 census for me.
I am looking for
William Edward Thomas Baptised in Nov 1862 so maybe about 9.
and
Elizabeth Thomas Baptised 1865 so maybe about 6.
Basically, they were not living with their Mother .. Mary Pritchard (Late Thomas) in Blaenavon in 1871 so I am wondering what happened to them. They might have stayed with their Grandfather when Mary's husband David Thomas died (in July 1865) or I suppose they might have died. It is a mystery.
Any help greatly appreciated, even just ideas. Mnay Thanks Dawn
