Evening all,
Is there anywhere where I can find a list of all chapels
churches and other places where a baby may have been christened/baptised in
Pontnewynydd around 1883?
Thank you and I hope everyone had a good holiday

I will be grateful in any information regarding this subject.
My grandmother's aunt Louisa Ellen GORE/MILES (aka Aunt Tiny or Tiny) b.19th
Feb 1902 was murdered (stabbed) by her second husband Jack Harris b.
Pontypool.
>From what I remember he had fought in World War I or II and had not been of

Is there any way to find out about this crime and what exactly happend?

Another couple of questions for all you Aberystruth experts.
Just received a death certificate which tells me that John OWENS died by
accidental scalding from a steam engine in 1854 at the age of 75. The
informant was a Mr Brewer, coroner.
Do coroners' records exist for Aberystruth from this period?
I found a detailed report for another inquest elsewhere in a local
newspaper. I think the location of this accident was likely to be in the
eastern part of Ebbw Vale. What newspaper would have covered that area at
that time?

I would also like to here an update on the Ebenezer Chapel. I was there 3
years ago and it was almost all brambles. However the grave 2 relatives
buried near the back of the chapel was visible. I wonder how many other
relatives are buried there.

If this IS him then it's interesting that his father was born in Iron Acton,
Gloucestershire, and the family had been living at the same address since
1871, when Dad was a coal miner and they were living next door to his
brother Elon. In 1861 both brothers and their respective wives were living
under the same roof in Broad Street.
Apparently the job of catcher was more popular than some others in an iron
mill - according to one definition I found they were men who formed the
molten iron into rails or ingots.

I've had some help with this, but the only contender in the area, in Cwm,
south of Ebbw Vale, doesn't seem likely
Going through the census pages, I see it must have been between Newtown and
the iron works in 1841, but it's not there now, I think.

Hi Robert,
That's a useful site.
I've had some help with this, but the only contender in the area, in Cwm,
south of Ebbw Vale, doesn't seem likely.

Hi List
I am looking for descendants of Cecil SHEPPARD who married Beryl
SAUNDERS in Blaina in 1935. Both were living at 6 Dolygarn Terrace at
the time, with Cecil being a Railway Porter. They were still iving in
the area in 1946, at 17 Mill Street, Blaina, when Cecil's father died in
Swindon.
Any information would be appreciated.

Graham
Sue, the following is from a HODGES family tree that was sent to me by
Gordon Hodges of Caldicot. His branch of the family came from the Undy/
Caldicot area but I am not sure about this particular couple.
Anne Hodges 1785--1847 married
Thomas Pearce 1776-- ??
I don't know any more than that and I haven't been in touch with Gordon
for some time as I have never been able to make a connection between our two
groups of Hodges, his from Undy and mine from Risca.
Happy Christmas,

Merry Christmas to the group.
My ggrandmother was born in Bedwellty in May 1850. When I check FreeBMD
the only likely candidate is listed under Abergavenny. Since Bedwellty
was a registration district would it have been likely to have been
registered in Abergavenny?
Thanks,
Larry
