I would be grateful if anyone with access to the 1861 Monmouthshire index could trace these MORGAN families.
My main interest is in knowing whether any of these William Morgan seniors had a William junior aged about 10 or 11 in 1861. Other family members at the same address might also help trace.
The following is from the 1871 census:
5292 88 18
Shirenewton
93
Drapers shop William Morgan, 50, lab, Shirenewton
Sarah, wife, 51, Tidenham, Glos
Margaret Davies, mother in law, 71, formerly nurse, Melton Mowbray, Leic
5293 58 6
Wolvesnewton
23
William Morgan, 58, farm labourer, Wolvesnewton
Rachael, wife, 46, Llanishen
Henry, son, 10, Wolvesnewton
5353 90 2
Nantychead (possibly Nant y Ceisiac), Machen Upper
7
William Morgan, 59, labourer, Monmouthshire
Catherine, wife, 53, Rudry, Glamorgan

Is it possible for anyone to tell me if there is a SARAH YOUNG named in the 1851 or 1861 Census? Sarah would be, I think, at least 50 or 60 years of age -- if not older. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Marion
This is the only George TUCKER I could find in the piece of the 1851 census covering
New Tredegar:
HO107/2448 Folio 869 - Bedwellty
363 Sirhowey
TUCKER, Richard, HD, M, 48, Iron Miner, Derbyshire
Esther, Wife, 51?, place of birth illegible
Maryanne, DA, 14, "
George, 10, SO, 10, Iron Miner, "
JEFFRIES?, Albert, Lodger, 31, Somersetshire
DOBB/DODD, James, Lodger, 17, Iron Miner, Somersetshire
[the handwriting is very faded in this fiche, maybe someone else will have better luck with
deciphering the writing]
These are the William TUCKER entries from the same piece:
HO107/2448 folio 821- Bedwellty
63 Roseland Row, Mamhole Hamlet
TUCKER, William, Head of family, M, 26, Hot air xxx, WIL North Broadly
Harriet, Wife, 25, MON Cxxxxx [illegible]
Wm, SO, 5, At home, BRE Llangynydir?
Ruth, DA, 1, At home, MON Bedwelty
PRICE, William, Lodger, Wid, 40, Labourer, BRE Hay
PRICE, Eliza, DA, 9, Scholar at home, BRE HAY
PRICE, Charlote, DA, 5, Scholar at home, BRE Hay
[xxx could be maker, mould, man]
[neighbours include brickmakers, so William could be working in the brickworks]
HO107/2448 Folio 291
Church Street, Tredegar
TUCKER, William, Boarder, U, 53, Iron ore miner, HEF Ross
[lodging with the family of David LEWIS b. Swansea]
I have only checked the Tredegar fiche, so it is possible that your George and William are
in another area.

Hi,
Can anyone offer assistance with a 1860-1871's request?
I am searching for a HORLER family in Tredegar 1861-1871.
In the 1871 census for Swindon,Wiltshire there is a Jane Horler
age 15 born in Tredegar.
I am wondering if Jane's parents were still alive and whether they were still
living in Tredegar during her stay in Swindon.
I would to identify the parents if possible.

Tony

Hello Kathy and everyone else
Kathy replied to my new web site letter thus

I didn't notice the slight typo in the address, and when I copied and
pasted, it went to some Microsoft page. I bet they're wondering what all the
sudden interest is!

Thanks very much Kathy and I really am embarrassed at my foolish haste in getting our new web site address known to the Family History world and getting it wrong.
Of course it should have been

Best wishes

I appreciate everyone for clarifying this question for me.
in my particular case my immigrant himself alternated
saying he was from Wales and from England. I found his
birth in Monmouth.

Alan,
Monmouthshire has never ever been part of England, but has been part of
Wales throughout its existence. Some confusion did creep in during
various
censuses partly due I believe with Monmouthshire coming under the
jurisdiction of
the Oxford circuit judge. However, people born in Monmouthshire have
always
been classified as Welsh and have always played sport for the Welsh
national
teams, Monmouthshire has always been administered by the Welsh Office
and as
long as I can remember education in Monmouthshire has always come under
the
Welsh Joint Education Committee.
I hope this helps

I think the question should be .....when did the mormons confuse Wales with
England? I don't think Monmouthshire ever shifted Easterly to England.
