Dear listers
The IGI has indexed the parish records of Bedwas (baptisms) up to 1875. Does
anyone know if the actual records go beyond that date and whether they can
be seen at Cwmbran?
Similarly the IGI has Bassaleg Bethel Baptist baptisms up to 1837. Do the
records go later and can they be seen at the record office?
Regards
David

Please could someone -off list as topic probably not acceptable- tell me if the e mail purporting to be from the Microsoft Corporation with attachment that keeps turning up in my mail box is genuine? I suspect it is not. How do I tell?

Hello Kevin
This is from the Gwent FHS 1861 census name index:
3985 60 06 - Skenfrith
WOOLLEY, Samuel, 42
Hannah, 42
Charletty, 6
James, 10
Jane, 11
Lucy Elizabeth, 4
Thomas, 8
3985 38 07 - Penrhos
WOOLEY, Rose Hannah, 14
and this from the index for 1851:
HO107/2444 10 528 - Skenfrith
WOOLLEY, Samuel, 31
Hannah, 30
Rosana, 4
James, 2 mos
Jane, 1
You will have to look at the original censuses for details of birthplace, relationships etc.
They don't seem to be in the same area in 1871.

Hi Listers,
Could somebody please help and provide me some information on Newport?
On my grandparents marriage certificate, dated 13th April 1899, my grandfather, Edwin LEGG, was a Railway Clerk living in
5 Charles Street, Rogerstone, and my Grandmother, Eliza WILLIAMS, was living in Woodside Villa, Stow Hill. I have not been able to locate either of these houses and would appreciate it if somebody could tell me if these buildings still exist and is there any history associated with either of them?
Thanks,

Dear Lists,
If anyone is researching the Everson families of Monmouthshire (mainly
Caerleon & Machen, 1800-1900) who seem to have "originated" in the Forest of
Dean around 1800, have lots of information to share. Also if anyone has
"accidentally" come across these families in their own research, any
information would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
John Everson

Hi
Just saw your post re Blaina. I have seen an index at my local library that
lists two death for Henry TAYLOR. One was buried 1857 aged 1.5 years and
the other was buried in 1870 aged 72.
I am looking for an elusive Henry Taylor who was a carpenter who had a
daughter Ellen born somewhere between 1855 and 1860 (conflicting info on
marriage cert and her death cert) She married in Blaina in the Baptist
Church in 1875 stating residence as Abertillery. Each certificate I have
for her children state she was born in Wales.
I realise this is a big ask but do you have any referece to a Henry or Ellen
Taylor in your transcriptions?
Thanks
Gayle

My great grandfather was Edward Morgan (25 May 1845 -
11 December 1898). He was a shoemaker and lived at
Garth/Craig near Bassaleg. He married Harriet Ellen
Ainge on 12 January 1866 at the Bethel Chapel in
Bassaleg. They had seven children and I have traced
all these and their descendants.
As regards ancestors, Harriett's family has been
traced back to 1469. Of Edward, I know about his
parents: his father, William, a widower, married Sarah
Baker 30 April 1842, also at the Bethel Chapel. He
was a gardener, she a servant. His father, Lewis was
also a gardener; her father a tailor.
Any information about this branch of the Morgans would
be much appreciated; also any information about houses
in and around Bassaleg needing gardeners, and about
the Bethel Chapel, which I have yet to visit.
Many thanks
Robin Morgan, WOKING, Surrey

I wonder if SKP could look for a WILLIAM BRIDGES in the 1851 Census. His occupation on his son's marriage certificate in 1847 was that of Surgeon. His son, also William, was born in Newport about 1826.
Kind regards,
Verity Petrie.
Hi listers
I have posted this message to the Brecon list without any success, so I
thought I would post it to Monmouthshire as it is close to the border and my
MORGAN's came into Monmouthshire, so perhaps some others of the family did
as well
JOHN MORGAN married ELIZABETH WALTER in CWMDU, Brecon in 1801.
THOMAS MORGAN, my gggrandfather, was born in 1811, and married MARTHA PRICE
in LLANVETHERINE in 1840.
The next sibling I know of from the 1841 census is Margret born 1815, and 4
more brothers, EVAN, DAVID, EBENEZER and CHRISTOPHER, all at
LLANGATTOCK-VIBON-ABEL
Surely there must be some more siblings born in the first 12 years of they
marriage.
So is there anyone out there who is decended from a MORGAN born in the
LLanddetti, Talybont, Llansantfraidd, Bwlch, Cwmdu, area of BRECON?
Yours Tony, Forest of Dean

Farmborough bapts. and although there were Tuckers being bapt. up to around
1817 there was no John around 1820 - perhaps the family used another church?

Can someone please tell me where Kenford in Monmouthshire is? Another lister
did give me an idea, but I lost all my e-mails that day due to computer
problems and had to do a restore.
Any help will be much appreciated
thanks

John TUCKER seems to have left Farmborough, Somerset by 1851 census. There
are several TUCKERs there who might be siblings, parents or uncles etc. I
suspect he may well not have been in Somerset at all, though there is a John
TUCKER, baker, at Bristol St Augustine, whose place of birth is simply
'Somerset'. He had a wife Louisa and a son Edward, 2.
