My ggrandfather John Richard Hodder was married to Mary A.
Rees (Reece) 16 April, 1865, parish church, Llantarnam.
Mary's parents were Miles Rees, a stonecutter, and Sarah
Hoyles (Hayles). I believe there were 2 other daughters,
Elizabeth (witness on marriage record) and Eliza (???).
Would anyone have info on Miles Rees and wife, Sarah?
Thanks a lot,

Hi,
I'm trying to trace my great grandparents. My grtgrandfather's name was William John Thorne who married an Elizabeth Thomas. His occupation was Flockworks labourer. At the time of my grandfather's birth ( 28/7/1900) he lived at 13 Avon Terrace, Lower Pontneury dd(?) near Newport, Monmouthshire. The address where my grandfather was born is given as 2 Raglan Terrace, Cwmbran, Llantarnum.
Could someone look up 1891 census for me and advise whether he appears? There are a couple of William Thorne's appearing as children on 1891 census. Trying to establish which one is my line.

Dear Listers
I need one favour and some local info. Please, does anyone out there know if Yew St Merthyr Tydfil is as it was in 1891 - 1901 or has it been modernised. Also, is there a mine at Methyr Tydfil that can be photographed and does anyone know where employee records might be held for local mines?
Now the favour! I am not sure how available 1901 census is in Wales but if it is available is there anyone who would be willing to check address for this couple,:
William Preater(Prater)
wife Eva
last known address 65 Yew St living with George Cross (Head)
Thank you in advance for any assistance as need to get family tree finished for dads birthday in 2 weeks time!!!!! I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY!

Dear Listers,
Rather sooner than expected, I've just uploaded the 'E' and 'F' sections

I hope to add the 'G' and 'H' sections within the next two or three
weeks.

Does anyone have access to records that could prove or disprove that my family were actually where the birth certificate states in Wales?
John Bush and Hannah Bryant had at least 2 sons, George Bryant Bush and Arthur Bush. Both boys came to Australia and we can't seem to prove they actually did arrive in the 1860's to South Australia.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Yours in friendship

Hi List
Many thanks to all that helped me in the last few days with my
Knapton line ... my head is still spinning with all the new info.
Finally!, I start to research my Roberts line.
William John Roberts (bn. Bristol, 1880), and Mary Anne Morgan (bn.
1885 Stocton-on-Tees) married in 1901, and started their family with
...
Edith Roberts (my grandmother) (bn. 1902, Abersyschan)...
Other children (all Roberts) were: Lemuel Charles (married Hughes),
Thirza Irene (married Howells), Percival (married Clout), Hilda Mary
(married James), Horace James (married Mulligan), Ivy (living!!)
(married Howard)....
The family later spent time in Kent....
There was apparently also "Olive" & "Ira" (Roberts). These 2 are
apparently buried at "Trevethyn Churchyard... nr. Pontypooll" I do
not know if any other family members may be keeping them company, nor
do I know where they fit in chronologically. Are there any "on line"
records for this cemetery?
I am just starting on this branch of the family. Should anyone have
any knowledge of this family, I would be happy to hear from them.
Incidentally, Mary Anne (Morgan) Roberts died at Cwmbran in 1979 (94
years old).

Hello Jeanette,
I used to worj for a gentleman by the name of JOSEPH SYUCKEY of Deri, nr
Bargoed, Glamorgan. This is on the actual Border of Monmouthshire. Joe's wife
was Theresa. I cannot remember the exact address but Deri is such a small
village, I'm sure everyone will remember him. He was a Master Carpenter and I
do not use those words lightly.
Best wishes

Hello Geri,
Welcome to the list.
I ran your surname in two census indexes. These are the matches for the

Hi Brenda,
I visited the iron works during the O'Leary reunion last June/July. My Leary
ancestors worked in the various iron mills in the Merthyr Tydfil Valley
(Mostly at the Ebbw Vale/Victoria Iron Works) and I found the tour to be very
interesting and our guide very knowledgeable about it's history. I believe
his last name was Evans but can't remember his first name. I remember sending
him a letter of thanks after returning to the states. The other half of the
group toured the Big Pit and overall everyone got their moneys worth. It's a
part of our history that everyone should see when they get the chance.
Still looking for any long lost Leary & O'Leary cousins who may be
descendants of my clan's siblings, and who may have remained in the UK after
my branch sailed for America in the 1880's. Unfortunately G.G.Grf. Richard
Leary's where-abouts still eludes me.
Say hello to Ray for me and tell him that I'll see him at the next UK reunion
in 2003, the good Lord willing.
Regards to Barry too.
Don O'Leary

Dear Listers,
This week's 'Retrospective Images of Wales' pages, just uploaded onto my
website, feature photographs of Maesyronnen Chapel and Cilkenny Dingle,
near Llowes, Radnorshire (first shown on 'Images of Wales' in April
1998), and Welsh Bridges (various locations - first shown in April
1999).
To view these photos, go to

While there, make your own selection from my Webpage Archives.
Enjoy!! :o)
Best wishes,
John

I am researching the family of Leopold TUCKER.
He appears in the 1881 Census aged 14 living with his father, Edwin, sister Annie and a cousin from Bristol, and later I find he is married in Sept Q 1895 ( Free BMD ).
He may have married Annie Eliza SAIES.
I am wondering if this couple show up in the 1891 Census around Abergavenny, and if so what children do they have.
The SAIES family were drapers, and Harry Vesey SAIES might show up too - he was living in Albany Rd in 1901
any help would be appreciated
Thanks kindly
Jocelyn
Hi All,
I am trying to find a Maria Roberts on the 1841 census. I thought she was born in Mynyddislwyn, but on the 1851 census she gives he birthplace as Henllys.
Maria Roberts would be abt 6 in 1841, fathers name William Roberts occupation Farmer, mother's possible name Rachel.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Pat
