Dear all,
After a long time searching I have at last found out (I think) where my Great
Grandmother came from. I have a few questions which I hope the list may be
able to answer. Her name was Florence Day, father Thomas. I have only
found out today that she came from Wales (old Uncle). On the 1881 census
there is only one that I believe fits the age. Aged 6 in the 1881 census,
born in USK and living with her Grandparents at the Fox Hounds pub,
Llangibby, where is Llangibby? is the Fox & Hounds still there?
Unfortunately I do not know a lot more about her, other than she married my
G Grandfather Wyndham Ayling in 1898 in Leeds. I only know her fathers name
from the marriage certificate. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in
anticipation.
Regards
Steve Ayling
I am interested in any information regarding Lois Aston living in Bath 1871.
Her fathers name James Aston. She was married to John Bibey (living in West
Dean) in Monmouth April 1871, his fathers name was Rich Bibey (short for
Richard?). This will be my last try before leaving on a trip in Sept.
Hope someone can find some info. Thanks a lot.

Hi
My uncle went from Liverpool and I always assumed it was because the Ocean
going Liners were much larger, therefore more comfortable and CHEAPER which
was why it was the main port for U S A. They could not get large ships into
many Welsh Ports.

Hi Pam,
My ancestors arrived in the States at Philadelphia. Some time ago I, like
Donna, inquired as to which port(s) they would have left from. I was told
that Liverpool was always a possibility during that time frame C. 1840 can
you think of any reason why someone from Mon would go through Liverpool
instead of South Wales in general.
Thanks for the sites. I am looking forward to delving in.
Kind regards,
