Project Pioneer To Meet June 8
Ste. Genevieve Project Pioneer will meet with the Misplait/Misplay (French) and Schmelzle/Schmidt (German) families on Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m. at the Ste. Genevieve Library located in the Ste. Genevieve Community Center building on Highway 32.
Research is continuing on these families, and family members are reminded that pictures must be submitted by this meeting. The final information on the families must be in by mid-July. Only corrections will be accepted after that.
Families should check the information already in the books that are available for viewing at the Ste. Genevieve Library during regular business hours and at the meetings. Corrections can be submitted also.
A new development at the May meeting is the new location for Project Pioneer headquarters this year. The Centre For French Colonial Life has offered the use of their basement to Project Pioneers on Jour de Fete weekend. The Centre is located in the old Bank of Ste. Genevieve building at 198 Market St. (corner of Market and Second) in the center of Jour de Fete activity.
Project Pioneer officials viewed the facility and decided to take them up on their offer. The headquarters includes two big rooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, a lobby, and a lift (not an elevator) for those who are unable to use stairs.
