TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Re: CarrollsCorner.net http://www.carrollscorner.net has been providing free historical / genealogical information for the Washington County & southeast Missouri area for 17 years – since 1998. I have provided much of my 40+ years of research on this web site. I have paid research expenses & web site costs myself until 2013 at which time I found it necessary to start requesting donations. I do NOT get rich from this site! Everyone likes the site & I get lots of compliments but compliments don’t pay the bills. I get lots of requests to use information / pictures from the site & I have never denied anyone. Many local people have used info from the site but I can count on one hand the local Washington County residents that have made donations. Also no local politicians, no local organizations & no local businesses have ever donated so much as a penny toward the support of CarrollsCorner although they make donations to other local causes. So it is with great regret that I must announce that if I do not get any substantial donations / sponsors by November 2015 CarrollsCorner will have to be taken off-line & will cease to exist. I am checking out other options such a free-pages, etc. but so far nothing looks promising. At age 67 & with numerous health problems & after all the time & work I have already invested in the web site I’m not sure I have it left in me to build this enormous site all over again from scratch as going to a different web provider would require a different format. And if no local people care enough to donate toward the preservation of their local history why should I continue to give them my time & hard work for free. Esther Ziock Carroll – a.k.a. ZIOCK63664
