Household from Allen's grandparents. This is the widow Catherine Great.
She seems to be Allen's aunt -- look at the birthplaces of her parents. The
next few households are also Burgess kin. You probably need to find the
grandparent's household & records in an earlier census with the known
children and then learn the missing brother's name.
Grandfather's will may name deceased children.
User-submitted information on FamilySearch lists Allen's marriage to Almeda
Bittick on 2 January 1882; lists his parents as Sanders Burgess and
Margretta Eliza Cook.
Bride's name, death information matches yours. Birthdate is way off.
I am looking for the parents of Allen Burgess. Allen was born 1858, died 1931, was buried in the DeSoto City cemetery. He married Almeda Bittick in 1881 and censuses provide names of a number of children. The 1880 Jefferson Co. census shows Allen (age 21) living with his grandparents, Thomas and Mary Ann Burgess. His parents are listed as having been born in MO.
HOWEVER no parents are named in any of these records (including his death certificate).
Any suggestions? I don't know where else to turn.
