Dear Michael Andrews,
This is not a query; therefore I hope it will be permissable to send it to you. I would
greatly appreciate it if you would circulate the message below out onto the MNGenWeb
"Minnesota" e-list. I believe there may be people on the list that will find
the information of interest.
Thanks.
Bestwishes,
Seamas Cain

Dear Minnesota genealogists,
You may remember me. I was the featured speaker at the MGS state-convention in 1999,
meeting at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
Next Saturday, October 16th, I will have a sale-table at the Twin Cities Book Festival -
which is being held at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College near Loring Park.
I will have on hand copies of W.D. Hamilton's book OLD NORTH ESK ON THE MIRAMICHI - a
detailed historical and genealogical study of a community in the province of New
Brunswick, Canada, that constituted one very important direct-channel of immigration into
Minnesota. This is the third and final edition of Hamilton's book - double
the size of the second edition. The book contains detailed genealogical information about
several hundred families.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would spread the word about the availability of this
book at the Book Festival. Perhaps you might be able to send someone from your Literature
Committee to the Book Festival to check-out the Hamilton book [I will also have several
other genealogical books concerning the Miramichi region].
I know for a fact that there are a number of people in the Twin Cities who are descendants
of Old North Esk emigrants. Indeed, there are a considerable number of such descendants:
the famous, the infamous, and the less famous.
After my talk at the 1999 state-convention, the Literature Director of the MGS [at the
time] stood and announced the availability for sale in the lobby of copies of the first
edition of Hamilton's book. Because of this, I would think that there would be even
more interest in the expanded edition.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
S. Cain
