Timothy,
You might want to rethink holding your election in May unless you plan on doing it without
the help of the EC. During May the EC is very busy getting updates before the National
Election and would not be able to hold any State elections.

Subject: [MNGEN] Bylaws - differences
Wayne,
I changed the subject line to talk about the differences you've mentioned
below
since I've already replied about the grammatical issues in a previous
answer:

There are four substantive differences, affecting sections VIII, X, XI,
XIII, and XIV. Two of these, VIII and XI, are the decision to choose May
as the month for elections.
The three other substantive differences are an additional criteria
active status (mandatory roll calls 4x per year,) a directive in dispute
resolution that a grievance notice should be filed with the SC, and
removal of the copyright status statement requirement. The latter is
legally unnecessary (and unenforceable in the USA,) and may be the
current practice of The USGenWeb Project. The grievance notice directive
seems reasonable in my opinion. The mandatory roll calls also seems
reasonable to me; actually I thought we were under a 12x per year
mandatory program now, so this would in practice be reducing the
requirements.
Section X - difference between the SC version and the Committee version -
an additional criteria active status (mandatory roll calls 4x per year,)
*[This puts roll calls into our procedures and why they are necessary.]*
Section XIII - committee version - If a resolution is not forthcoming the
two
parties should contact the state coordinator for assistance.
SC version - If a resolution is not forthcoming, a grievance notice should
be filed with the state coordinator.
*[I see no other differences. *
*I believe the reason for the SC version is that since this is
listed under *
*Arbitration, Grievance Procedures and since this is asking the SC to
arbitrate *
*that the language was changed to state that such is a grievance notice
rather*
*than asking for assistance.*
*However, now looking at the section further, I question the definition of
the*
*entities referenced as eastern and western regions.]*
Section XIV -
*Item 3.*
Committee version -
Every county must include a copyright notice on the main page of the
county website. The following Copyright notice is an example only of common
copyright
statements used on the internet (you may choose your own wording).
© Current Year. XXXXX County MNGebWeb Project. All Rights Reserved.
SC version -
Deleted. * [This is not a requirement of The USGenWeb Project. It is
optional.]*
*Item 5.*
Committee version -
Each county coordinator may choose to host the county's website anywhere on
the internet.
SC version - numbered item 4 after removal of copyright requirement:
County coordinators may host the county's website anywhere they wish.
*[Hosting implies online. Wording saying: on the internet (sic) is
redundant. ]*
