Hi Tim,
Haven't talked to you for a bit. How are you doing?
I was a bit upset at first, but didn't expect it to stay up for long because
of what happened with the CA list. But then I noted that the CA list is
back up on ancestry on the pay sites, so figure there is not much that can be
done unless it is on a national basis. I have noticed that more and more
"indexes" are going up all over the country, both on pay sites only and on
government sites. And one of the things that may have been a clincher in any
arguments about it is the fact that alot of public records have the birthdates on
them and you can get them there and can also build trees with them. I have
been doing that for a couple of states that do not have indexes up yet.
Did you also note that the MN Historical Society has births up to 1919 on
line now. Index isn't as complete as what you can get on ancestry, but with
the mother's name up you can build families with that info.
Since you can also search by parents' names on ancestry, once you find a
child's birthdate for MN you can then use that name and search for kids for that
person and get the spouse's name from that and the names of all the kids, get
multiple spouses, their names, the order of marriage, and all the kids up
thru 2002. The only years not up yet are 1920 thru 1927.
You can also now use someone's contributed tree that has "living so and so"
m. "living so and so" and end up with the names of those people and their
kids, and the dates for all of them. You can also prove those connections wrong,
which I have done on a couple of occasions.
