Hi Martha & All:
I started a Google Spreadsheet for Meeker. It is compatible (I think) with other
spreadsheet programs, but no one should run out and buy a program to do this.
I have indexed many of these in other states and what I am using isLast Name, First Name,
Section, Township, Range
Each of those little maps is a single Township-Range pair. I do not record the acreage,
since folks can access the map and read that for themselves.
Things like Johnson & Peterson or First Nat'l Bank would go into the Last Name
column. Single name Indians would also go into the Last Name column even though
technically it is their First Name. Pretty Voice Hawk would all go into last name;
Veronica Pretty Voice Hawk - Veronica would go into the first name column.
I try to do a few sections at a time when I have time. This is a long term project and not
something that you can rush through.

Joy,
This is a general question, but I thought that posting it to the list
might benefit others who might want to do some indexing of the MN Plat
maps for their Counties.
In looking at Blue Earth [one of my 3], I notice that some of the names
are really faded and hard to read. Of course this is almost always a
problem with any old documents.
But... that said, it might still be a good project. Obviously, this
lends itself to a wonderful spreadsheet. What format are you using? How
Many Cols? Separate spreadsheet for each County or combo when we are done?
If we all used the same format - ie same headings on Cols, the whole
thing could be combined into one mega spreadsheet, converted to
searchable pdf and we would have a whopper of a project and great resource.
Thoughts?
