Hi Tim,
I don't know much about running a maillist, but am willing to try. I run the
Cottonwood and Watonwan websites so could maybe help a little to run both
website and maillist?
Ray

Subject: [MNGEN] county mailing lists
Since the beginning of my venture with USGenWeb and the advent of mailing
lists on Rootsweb, I've always tried to adopt or join the mailing list of
any county I have hosted.
I did this to announce I was the person hosting the county site for
xxGenWeb, to state what materials I had, to ask for contributions and often
to ask for transcribers or proofreaders.
Maintaining a mailing list isn't that hard, actually easier than
maintaining a web site.
While looking at the lists that were available for adoption I found the
following available for Minnesota. If you do decide to host your county's
list, have questions about how to do such, please let me know.
When the lists were originally set up they were the state abbreviation plus
the first 6 letters of the county name if there were more than 6 letters in
the county name.
MNBELTRA, MNBENTON, MNCARLTO, MNCHIPPE, MNCLEARW, MNCOTTON, MNDODGE,
MNDOUGLA, MNFILLMO, MNMARTIN, MNMILLEL, MNNORMAN, MNOLMSTE, MNPENNIN,
MNPINE, MNPIPEST, MNSHERBU, MNWABASH, MNWATONW.
Tim
