Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
So sorry to hear this Shirley, will keep your family in our prayers.

Mary, Please refer to my 1/19 post "SC Election Overview" at
http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/MNGEN/2015-01/1421681932
Per that schedule, at the conclusion of the nomination period, the
nominees will have a few days to think about their campaign platform,
and post a campaign statement to the list if they wish. There will
then be a question and answer period from 2/5 thru 2/12. Everyone
can ask specific questions of any or all candidates then.
Voting will run from 2/14 to 2/18.

I thought from reading Pat Asher's post from a few days ago that a time for
such was scheduled after nominations closed.
Did I read that wrong?

As I consider the current nominations, all are new within the last few
months to MnGenWeb. On 1/11/2015, I proposed to Shirley Cullum that the
candidates for State Coordinator be asked to introduce themselves.
Here are the two questions I proposed:
I would like to know 1) where they are currently involved in GenWeb and
2) what plans they would propose for the MnGenWeb. As a volunteer, I'd
like to know where my potential new leader intends to go!

It is my understanding that MNGenWeb does not currently have state
bylaws. That is okay. They are not required. However, lacking
state bylaws saying otherwise, state elections default to USGenWeb
bylaws which state:
"XII. H. State Coordinators shall be elected to those positions by
the local-level coordinators within the state. Those State
Coordinators and Assistant State Coordinators in place at the time
these bylaws are adopted shall be exempt from election procedures,
unless he/she/they are removed, resign, or are unable to perform their duties."
http://usgenweb.org/volunteers/bylaws.shtml
Note the national bylaws do not require ELECTION of ASCs. Each State
organization is required to have an ASC or "other support team" in
place; but the method by which that ASC or support team is selected
is not specified. In practice, they are often selected by the elected SC.
Thus, to make a long story short, members of MNGenWeb are currently
submitting nominations ONLY for SC of MNGenWeb.

Additionally it would be helpful to post the URLs for what folks are
voting on. I had a hard time finding it last night for faced with a bunch
of numbers on the ballot, now what number did I like?

That’s what I remember Shirley from the discussion some time back. It appears in most states the elected SC selects an ASC. Not in all cases. As I remember it was left as the first election for one SC only and then whatever gets into the MNGenWeb bylaws for the following elections.

To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MNGEN-request(a)rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
The MNGenWeb Election Committee will begin accepting nominations for
SC tomorrow morning, Saturday, Jan 24 at 12:01AM CST and ending
Saturday, Jan 31 at 11:59PM CST. All nominations must be
time-stamped during this period, so don't wait until the last minute
to send your Email. You may nominate any current MNGenWeb member,
including yourself.
Nominations should use the subject line: MN SC ELECTION
and must be copied to all three committee members:
Pat Asher - pjroots(a)att.net
Patrice Green - genealogy(a)cfl.rr.com
Mike Sweeney - sweeney2(a)wolfenet.com
Please include the nominee's name and Email address as it appears on
their MNGenWeb site.
Nominees will be contacted to confirm their acceptance of the
nomination and will be announced at the conclusion of the nomination period.
Thanks,
Pat Asher
Thanks Tim, nothing really there for my MN County, but there is a lot
of other stuff there that is of general use to all of us.

if it worked - too many.
Still someone may find something of interest there:

Karen,
It is legitimate question and as such and as a member of this project I
DO have the RIGHT to ask it! ANY CC has that right!
